Scratchbuilt large scale Steam Powered frame stationary Crane constructed largely from wood with large single jib and 2 large wooden outrigger feet. Steam power is provided by a vintage vertical steam engine possibly Bing, spirit fired, twin osculating cylinders complete with burner. Overall height of legs is 20" with feet being 31" apart, jib is 40" legs, vertical steam engine is 10" including chimney with small pressure gauge, timber pieces are painted in grey and the crane jib etc can be swung round from side to side or lifted. Does need a little attention and overall condition is Good to Good Plus. A very impressive and large model.
AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY OAK THREE BOTTLE TANTALUS, the frame with Gothic style applied metal mounts, and containing three hob nail cut square section spirit decanters with facetted globular stoppers, the front section with two upper doors opening to reveal four small liqueur glasses and centre box section, "Secret" drawer below revealing compartments for counters, dice cribbage board and playing cards. Platform base. 13.5" Wide x 11" Deep x 12.75" High.
* Psaier (Pietro, 1936-2004). “Spirit of Ecstasy”, a rare sculpted desk piece statuette, c. 1970s, in homage to, and in the manner of Charles Sykes, the artist’s interpretation of the iconic emblem of Rolls Royce, silver-plated cast-bronze, with deliberately “distressed” finish, with stamped inscribed signature by the artist to conical base, and indistinctly numbered “180” beneath one wing, mounted upon a black marble octagonal base, height 16in (41cm) Pietro Psaier, well known for his vibrant paintings, worked with Andy Warhol in his New York studios, and reputedly exhibited jointly with Warhol in 1978. Sadly he lost his life when his remote beach-house in Sri Lanka was washed away in the great Tsunami disaster of December 2004. (1)
