Nell B. Magelssen (American, 1895-1959), ""Chief Plenty Coups,"" 1933, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left, titled lower center, canvas: 23""h x 19""w, overall (with frame): 28.75""h x 24.5""w. Note: Magelssen was a descendant of Sir Archibald Willard (painter of ""The Spirit of `76"") and was closely associated, as well as worked with, Charles Marion Russell. One of Magelssen`s paintings,""The Outcasts,"" was purchased by president Franklin D. Roosevelt (see copy of White House letter).
A 19th century Rattanakhosin period inscribed Thai bronze Buddha. The Buddha is shown in the Palileyyaka Forest receiving gifts from the elephant and monkey. Punched inscription around the base. The present owner has had this translated: “If you follow the history of the Buddha you will enjoy prosperity both in body and spirit”.
A parcel lot of silver and EPNS to include a boxed set of silver coffee spoons, hallmarked Sheffield 1935, 1914 Brass World War 1 tin, EPNS to include teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl, cocktail shaker and spirit measure, goblets, hot water jug, boxed fish knives and forks, bone handled serving fork and knife, teaspoons, napkinrings etc. (33).
An early 20th Century silver miniature three piece tea set comprising of a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl each having gadrooned lower bodies, hallmarked Birmingham 1907, together with a miniature silver gallery tray on four ball feet, hallmarked Birmingham 1908, and a silver miniature spirit kettle and stand with gadrooned lower body, hallmarked Birmingham 1908, total weight 61g (5).
An early 19th century mahogany apothecary`s box, with sunken brass handles, the divided interior with nine glass bottles and stoppers, some with labels for `J. B. LANGFORD, CHEMIST, WELLINGTON` and other labels for the previous contents `AMMONIA`, `SPIRIT OF HARTSHORN`, `POISON`, with a base drawer fitted with further bottles, brass scales and tortoiseshell fleams, 21.9cm high, 23.5cm wide, 12cm deep.
