§ Charles Robinson Sykes (British, 1875-1950) Nude studies red chalk on buff paper (a pair) 40 x 30cm (16 x 12in) Other Notes: Charles Sykes is best known for designing the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot for Rolls-Royce cars. He was commissioned to produce the mascot by Lord Montagu in 1909 and the iconic statue was modelled as a beautiful young woman in flowing robes. The model for the mascot was probably Eleanor Thornton, secretary to Claude Johnson of the Automobile Club. Thornton became Sykes' favourite model, posing for many of his sketches and paintings.
An impressive silver seven piece teaset, comprising a large twin handled tray, 76cm wide, 4600g approximately; spirit kettle on burner stand; teapot; twin handled sugar bowl; and cream jug, by Asprey & Co, London 1933; together with coffee pot; and hot water pot, by Harrison Brothers & G Howson, Sheffield 1936, most having ivory mounts, the whole approximately 8529g (274toz) all in, excluding burner.

CAPERDONICH 1968 - DUNCAN TAYLOR Caperdonich 37 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Duncan Taylor Independent Bottlers. 700ml. 40.3% abv. Distilled in 1968 and bottled in 2006. The Lonach range of bottlings are created from the marriage of under-strength spirit from casks with an abv which has dropped below 40% and others with a strength above 40% bringing the aggregate to above 40%, thus allowing the product to be sold as Scotch Whisky.
