It is controlled by the government by an 'appellation' controlled type system. Baijiu is a generic term for spirit and can be made anywhere in China, but Moutai can only be made in Moutai,in Guizhou Province. From the largest producer is the government controlled Kweichou Moutai Factory. From the largest privately owned and most respected Moutai factory is Guizhou Maotaizhen Guowei Liquor Group. It has been made for centuries, and with different ages, typically 3 Year Old and 5 Year Old, with super premium varieties up to 30 Years Old. It is distilled from a “beer” made from malted Sorghum, a gluten-free edible cereal grain known as Jowar in India. Characterized by its distinct flavour and mellow yet pleasant after-taste. The bouquet shows floral, dried dates with a hint of nuts and toasted rice. The palate is silky, spicy, dry but smooth on the finish.Wuliangye liquor is considered the magic liquor of China. Adopting traditional techniques, it is made with select grains including broomcorn, rice, wheat and corn. Wuliangye liquor is unique in aroma and taste, sweet cotton candy and hints... A fine pair of mixed-metal, tapering vases attributed to Miyao Eisuke of Yokohama; one decorated with a barefoot Tekkai Sensei standing beneath a pine tree whilst blowing his spirit into space. The other vase with Gama Sennin standing beside his magic toad. Both designed with a variety of takazogan, kebori or nunomezogan and depicting a kacho-ga of birds flying above flowers. Each of the slightly flaring necks decorated with butterflies or other invertebrates, 45cm high, and with rectangular signature tablet, Meiji Period (2) Compare two other superb examples of metalwork, both given to Miyao, and published in The Khalili Collection/Meiji no Takara: a massive bronze dragon (Khalili Metalwork No. 108) and a pair of large Samurai (Khalili Metalwork No.109).
