Rupert Brooke at Cambridge 1908 Literature – two original albumen photographs showing members of the cast of the 1908 Cambridge University production of Milton’s Comus^ both approx 27x21cms and both laid to card album leaves. The scenes show members of the cast in a garden obviously posing for the camera^ but one is annotated indicating that one of the players is Rupert Brooke – Frances Darwin and Helen Gardener are also indicated. Two further photographs are on the verso of each card – the one showing a group of eight Cambridge male students in a formal group shot and the second showing a boat race presumably on the River Cam. The production of Comus was held to mark the 400th anniversary of Milton’s birth. Brooke was producer and also played the Attendant Spirit.
