Lithographed tinplate motoring advertising sign HALF WAY ROUND THE WORLD ON SHELL ROUTE FOLLOWED BY CAPTAIN SIR ROSS SMITH IN HIS HISTORIC FLIGHT FROM ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA ON HIS VICKERS-VIMY ROLLS ROYCE AEROPLANE. SHELL AVIATION MOTOR SPIRIT WAS USED EXCLUSIVELY THROUGHOUT THE 15,000 MILE FLIGHT. Printed by MacDonald Gill in 1921 and is in very good condition. Measures 28in x 20in.

Damages to the legs of the following models: Appaloosa, Mare in brown gloss and Spirit of the Wind in brown matt. Chip to the tip of Highland Pony's ear. Burke (Edmund) Reflections on the Revolution in France, first edition, first impression, presentation inscription 'To The Rev.d D.r Kearney From the Author' to front free endpaper, [PMM 239], J.Dodsley, 1790 bound with Price (Richard) A Discourse on the Love of Our Country..., fourth edition, lacking half-title, George Stafford for T. Cadell, 1790, together 2 works in 1 vol., occasional spotting or foxing, second work with browning to corners of final few ff., autograph notes by Kearney to front free endpaper "the spirit & vigour of his pursuit always gives delight; & the reader follows him, without reluctance, thro' his mazes, in themselves flowery & pleasing, & ending at the point originally in view", bookplate of Kearney and library label with shelf marks to pastedown, contemporary half calf, spine ruled in gilt with red morocco label, joints cracked but holding firm, a little rubbed, preserved in brown morocco pull-top box lettered in gilt (extremities a little rubbed), 8vo. ⁂ Presentation copy of Burke's masterpiece, one of the most influential works in modern English history. Michael Kearney (1733-1814), fellow at Trinity College Dublin, met Burke upon the author's return to Dublin in 1761.
Cervantès Saavedra (Miguel de) The Life and Exploits of the ingenious gentleman Don Quixote de la Mancha, translated by Charles Jarvis, 2 vol., first edition of the Jarvis translation, engraved frontispiece and 68 plates (including a portrait of the author by George Virtue) most by Gerard van der Gucht after John Vanderbank, includes 'A Supplement to the Translator's Preface' by William Warburton and 'Advertisement concerning the Prints' by John Oldfield, occasional light browning, contemporary calf, joints cracked, rubbed and rather worn, [Palau 52479], 4to, for J. and R. Tonson, and R. Dodsley, 1742. ⁂ 'bella y sumptuosa edicion' (Palau). A richly illustrated edition, which 'is generally acknowledged as being close in spirit to the original.' (ODNB).
RARE SILVER THREE BOTTLE TANTALUS, having scrolled loop handle to the lockable frame, on a gadroon and shell cast base with bracket supports, three hobnail cut lead crystal square section spirit decanters with facet stoppers. Hallmarked for Sheffield, 1904. Maker's intials: J.D. & S., probably for James Dixon and Son. 35cm wide x 31.5.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT)
