The eye-catching right-hand drive example offered here is finished in a pleasing shade of Metallic Ice Green and trimmed in a complementary shade of Beige hide. It was first registered `RFX 340W' in January 1981 before being re-registered on the Isle of Man where it has remained until very recently. It is now being offered complete with: an MOT to March 10th 2016; the original owner's book pack and service book containing no less than 22 stamps; plus a large collection of invoices. The latter includes one for £4,231.61 that dates from November 2009, when the odometer displayed 38,426 miles - five and half years later it still only reads an unwarranted 41,166 miles. A FINE QUALITY 13TH CENTURY KHMER STONE STELE OF AN APSARA, from Angkor Wat, carved in deep relief, the female spirit holding a garland in each hand, her face with a serene expression, the whole mounted on a display stand, 19.9in high overall, the stele itself 16.5in high x 12.25in wide x 2in deep. (this lot is accompanied by a letter confirming provenance of acquisition in the 1960’s in South East Asia by a Danish diplomat seconded to the UN as an economic advisor).
A pair of early 20th Century porcelain spirit barrels Each of typical rounded barrel form, with removable upper integral stopper and applied brass handle, each with banded designs and central cartouche filled with gilt 'Rum' and 'S. Whisky' titles, reserved against a puce ground, 32.5cm high. (2) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1753: Pair of barrels rum, circular cover with a large chip to the underside of the rim approximately 4.5cm x 1.5cm, hairline crack to the oval support rubbing to the gilt rim, rubbing to the oval which encloses the inscription rum, rubbing to the flowers extensive rubbing to gilt, the second one S. Whisky a circular detachable cover extensively restored top approximately 10cm and 4cm from the rim, extensive rubbing to the gilt decoration including the inscription "one extra tap".
