A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN ICON OF THE CREATION OF MAN. Egg tempera and gold leaf on wood panel with lowered central reserve (Kovcheg). At center, a full length image of the Lord Sabaoth (God the Father) surrounded by the created world- birds, fish, animals, trees, plants, mountains, sky, and beneath him Adam- lower left and Eve- lower right. The borders finely painted in faux cloisonné enamel, the upper central margin painted with the Holy Spirit and the lower margin inscribed with the words from Genesis 1:27. Signed by the iconographer Diana Arkhi lower left and on verso. 24.5 inches x 20 inches (62 x 51 cm).

A 19th century Thomas Brigg & Son white metal and bamboo horse measuring walking stick, the bulbous globular knop end engraved JMD from JWP and dated 1899, with wooden stick marked with hands and quarters, centimetres and inches, with fold-out brass arm inset with spirit level, the wooden measure impressed T Brigg & Sons, London and Paris, with hallmarked silver ferrule, London 1899, with brass bound end cap, length approx 92cm.
