LINDBERGH CHARLES: (1902-1974) American Aviator who made the first solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic from Paris to New York in the Spirit of St. Louis, May 1927. T.L.S., Charles A. Lindbergh, two pages, 4to, Seven Oaks, 13th June 1936 to John Zwick, Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Lindbergh thanks his correspondent for their letters, adding, 'I have just returned from a trip to France, where I saw Dr. Carrel and went over a few of the details in regards to setting up a demonstrating the apparatus at Copenhagen' further adding, 'I understand from Dr. Fischer that both direct and alternating currents are available, but only 220 volts. I am writing again to Dr. Fischer, and it may be necessary for me to cable you to have a suitable motor made and sent to Copenhagen to operate the rotating valve' concluding, 'Thank you very much for sending such detailed lists. They are already of great assistance. Also for sending the new leather valves.' Two very small holes at the intersecting fold of each page and scattered light staining, otherwise about VG Alexis Carrel (1873-1944) French Surgeon, winner of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 1912. Carrel invented the first perfusion pump with Charles A. Lindbergh, opening the way to human organ preservation and transplantation.
