General-Wing Commander Stanislaw Skalski Virtuti Militari, Cross of Valour DSO DFC** Polish AF-RAF. Signature of the top scoring Polish fighter pilot of WWII One of 'the Few' with 501 Squadron. Total wartime score of 21 victories. For many years in post-war Poland he suffered harsh imprisonment under sentence of death at the hands of the Communists before being freed and eventually reinstated in the Polish Air Force and given the rank of General. In the manner of Christopher Dresser, of tapering circular form with a flush cover, ebonised turned handle, folded brass and c-scroll supports with a simulated bamboo spout stamped T & Co for Townshend Art Metal Company, Birmingham, 16cm high, and a J N Daalderop & Zoon brass jug of fluted conical form with an angular rattan-wrapped handle raised upon four shaped feet, impress marks and no.226, a half. 11cm high.
