A 2½ INCH GAUGE SPIRIT FIRED 4-8-0 LOCOMOTIVE AND TENDER, NAMED EMIR OF ZARIA. NO. 3 EMIR CLASS. SCRATCH BUILT IN THE 1930s, POSSIBLY BY BASSETT LOWKE. THE LOCOMOTIVE HAS AN 8 WICK REMOVABLE BURNER AND RESERVOIR, 2 OUTSIDE CYLINDERS, FIXED SLIP ECCENTRIC VALVE GEAR, 1 UNFLANGED DRIVE, SET WHISTLE, SAFETY VALVE, BACKHEAD HAS REGULATOR MANOMETER AND SIGHT GLASS. TENDER HAS WATER SUPPLY VALVE AND FILLER CAP. INCLUDED ARE TWO HANDMADE SLEEPING COACHES, A DINING / KITCHEN CAR AND A MAIL / POSTAL CAR. ALL WITH WIRING FOR LIGHTING. THE LOT INCLUDES A DISPLAY CABINET FOR THE LOCOMOTIVE AND TENDER AND A QUANTITY OF 2½ INCH GAUGE TRACK (APPROX 100 FEET). IT IS BASED ON A NIGERIAN RAILWAYS LOCOMOTIVE BUILT BY NASMYTH WILSON AND CO. An Aster for Fulgurex Chapelon Nord 2-3-1 4-6-2 (2-3-1) spirit fired locomotive and four-axle bogie tender, painted in lined brown, with four cylinder and outside Walschaerts valve gear, inside cylinder with slip eccentrics, screw reverse outside motion activated from cab, fitted with twin safety valves, pressure gauge, side glass and blower and all usual steam fittings, fully sprung chassis throughout, working tender and three-wick spirit lamp, in original box and packaging, cab No 31192, tender No 38040, with Fulgurex Aster plate underframes No 3019 1988. Plus length of show track.
A scratch-built approximate ¾ inch scale model of a live steam ‘Portable’ Agricultural steam engine, built by the late Mr Norman Cowtan of East Sussex. The copper boiler being spirit fired (no burner present) The engine mounted to the top of the boiler with single cylinder, connecting rod and guides, eccentric driven steam valve and water pump to side of engine. Lever operating steam supply and in line displacement oiler. Length 20cm.
A vintage model of a 2 ½ inch gauge live steam Great Western Railway 2-6-0 Class 4300 tender locomotive No 5309, built to the Churchward design. Last known to have been run at the Abbey dale Miniature Railway, Sheffield in 2000. The model having boiler heated by spirit fired burner, safety valves and clack. Cab with fittings including steam pressure gauge, water sight-glass, regulator, direction control wheel and firebox door. The chassis with twin outside cylinders having Walschaert’s valve gear, fluted motion, six-wheel tender with fitted hand feed water pump. The model finished in green and black lined livery having rivet work detailing, fitted steps, handrails and couplings. One cab side number plate missing. The model standing on wooden plinth with fitted track. Locomotive overall length 80cm. Cab width 12cm.Boiler History: No boiler history available.
