A George III Irish silver oval sauce boat by Matthew West, Dublin 1788, with a leaf-capped double scroll handle, embossed overall with foliate sprays, engraved with a crest and on three shell and stepped pad feet, 16.6cm (6 1/2in) long, 153g (4.95 oz); and a George III Irish Old English pattern hook-end sauce ladle, maker’s mark indistinct, possibly ‘I.C’ for John Craig, Dublin 1773, engraved with a crest and a foliate swag and a shell shaped bowl, 19.5cm (7 3/4in) long, 53g (1.7 oz). The first crest of a demi-lion rampant recorded for ATHY, BRUSH, CADAN, DEJEAN, EAMES, FONTE, GRADAN, HARE and 34 other families. The second of an older man’s head is the crest of MULLINS of Burnham, co. Kerry and of MORRIS.

C., Alessandria, post 1968.800 standard, comprising: Twelve table forks, Twelve table spoons, Twelve dessert forks, Twelve tea spoons, A serving fork, A serving spoon, A soup ladle, 3189g (102.5 oz); And the following with silver coloured handles and steel blades: Twelve table knives, Twelve dessert knives, A bottle opener, A nut cracker, A champagne opener. A. Cesa was the first silversmith in Alessandria to register on the 25th March 1935, he was given the number 1 as his maker’s mark.

Three sauce ladles, A soup ladle, An asparagus tongs, A cake server, A pair of fish servers, A sugar sifting spoon, A butter knife, 9886g (317.8 oz); With a pair of silver and ivory salad servers and a silver and steel serving knife; And the following with silver handles and steel blades: Twenty one table knives, Twenty three dessert knives (and a handle); In a light oak fitted canteen box, the cover with a plaque engraved with a coronet, a monogram ‘AG’ beneath, 63cm (24 3/4in) wide. The coronet for a count (Graf).
An early 19th century German silver fish slice by Georg Christian Friedrich Tem(m)ler, Augsburg 1807, the blade pierced and engraved with foliage and oval reserve within a scroll foliate border, the handle half turned ebony, 39cm (15 3/8in) long; and a punch ladle, maker’s mark ‘. K’, the rest indecipherable, probably German, the handle half turned ebony, 37cm (14 1/2in) long. See Selling no. 293, for the first maker’s mark.
