An oak canteen containing a quantity of silver plated cutlery, comprising 12 table knives and forks, 12 fish knives and forks, 12 dessert knives and forks, 12 soup spoons, 12 dessert spoons, 8 serving spoons, 7 teaspoons, 12 fruit spoons, four piece carving set. Not original to the canteen, but a further 6 egg spoons, 4 knife rests, mustard spoon, 4 salt spoons, sugar tongs, soup ladle, 2 sauce ladles and basting spoon original. CONDITION REPORT: The cutlery in this canteen is in generally very good order. It has clearly not seen too much use. The plating is generally very good. The table and other knives are later replacements. They are in good condition. The originals will probably have had ivorine handles. The canteen itself is in generally very good order with no significant issues. We have the key.
An early 20th century American cast silver punch ladle by Tiffany & Co, of Art Nouveau design, cast with fruiting vines and with shaped and spiralled bowl. Length 28 cm, marked to reverse "Tiffany & Co Sterling", together with original green fabric cover. 202 grams (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ladle is in extremely good condition. The bowl is not dented and not significantly scratched. The handle is structurally sound and not misshapen. Again there are no scratches, scuffs or marks of any note. The ladle simply needs a polish.
