A Japanese ivory group of two Samurai paused to assess a situation, one as an equestrian looks out towards an horizon as he sits bearing arms with a Daisho and a quiver of arrows, his companion on foot squats by the horses' forelegs, wearing a wakizashi, while placing upon the ground a ladle or hammer like object. The shaped base signed in sosho and with two tensho character seals. Meiji period. Height 13cm. Condition report: Cracks on all four hoofs of horse and numerous other small cracks (see pics). Glue or resin on left reins where it joins bridle on horses head and on the other end of rein in riders hand possibly broken at the same time.
