Engraved to the top of the lid in German gothic script “Reichsarbeitsdienst Gau-Sportfest Halle 1936”. Complete with a glass interior dish. Lid with cut section for a serving ladle, now absent.

(25.4cm.) diameter, 7½in. (19cm.) high, weight 55 tr.oz.; the eight Channel Islands silver punch cups especially commissioned to fit with the bowl, Bruce Russell, Guernsey, 1984, each of tapering cylindrical form with hook handles that hang perfectly to the bowl rim, each measuring 3in. (7.6cm.) high to top of handles, together with a Elizabeth II silver toddy ladle with turned wooden handle by C J Vander Ltd, 1957, gross weight of all pieces 81 tr.oz. All piece except the butter-knife, sugar tongs, mustard-spoon and salt-spoon are fully marked and with the York town mark. The butter-knife is fully marked though lacking the York town mark, the mustard-spoon and salt-spoon are marked with maker's mark, lion passant, duty mark and date letter and the sugar-tongs are marked with maker's mark, lion passant and duty mark. There is some wear to the marks, particularly on the smaller pieces but most are still legible. There is some overall minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some minor bruises to some bowls. The wear is most obvious to the engraving on the smaller pieces. The sugar tong have had a silver patch applied inside, repairing a small crack..
