Interesting and fine antique rose cut diamond seven stone cluster ring in a platinum and 18ct yellow gold mount, the principal centre stone 1.52ct approx, 3.1ct approx in total, size N, boxed;The ring comes with attributed hand written provenance, this diamond brooch (ring) was given to me by my old friend I P G Smith, it came to him from his great grandmother Sophia, nee Baroness Von Lunden, wife of Henry Smith M.D, who was senior physician to Peter III of Russia, his wife always wore the brooch when attending the court of Catherine II after the death of the Emperor, she and her husband were recommended to leave St Petersburg, in consequence of his refusal to sign a certificate to the effect that Peter III died a natural death.The brooch was originally given as a wedding present to the Baroness Von Lunden by Catherine II (Catherine II 1762-1796)In 1950 the brooch was made into a ring in a setting to the star in the late 18th century
A 9ct gold charm bracelet in the form of a pre-WW1 airship. Well detailed hollow construction with 2 gondolas and four side propellers, the suspension ring stamped `9ct`; Another of brass, marked `Zeppelin` with viewing `eye`; Another, brass and WM; 4 post war similar, one dated 1931 with factory logo on back; A Good Year chromed chain bracelet with airship. A WW1 gilt ring nicely engraved in script ‘Metal from Zep L.31’ mixed with gold. Destroyed-Potters Bar Oct 2nd 1916.’ Diameter 18mm, in blue velvet covered box. Note: Following the destruction of the L.31 by Capt. L. Robinson, V.C. the jewellers Elkingtons made various pendants, rings etc to be sold on behalf of the Red Cross; The rings cost 10/6d. Details are supplied with the lot, illustrated on Plate 29.
