Japanese Mitsukoshi Commemorative Ceramic Plate20th century AD. A white-glazed convex dish with basal ring; to the upper face, a gold field with face of a geisha behind a fan, black script and red chop seal to the side; to the reverse, gold lettering `Mitsukoshi` and `In Commemoration of the Opening of Mitsukoshi London` and characters to the centre. 405 grams, 20.5cm (8"). Ex Walter Steinberg collection; acquired London art market, 1960s-1970s. The London Mitsukoshi outlet opened in 1979 and was a well-known destination for Japanese visitors to Oxford Street. It closed in June 2013. Walter Steinberg has been a well-known figure at fairs, sales and events for many years. Born in 1922 in Philadelphia, Walter has had a life-long passion for collecting. A long-time resident in London, he has now retired to New York and decided that the time has come to pass on the antiquities and coins he has collected over his lifetime. Walter acquired coins and artefacts that interested him, so his collection, although containing many lovely examples, also contains many affordable specimens. Much of the material has been unavailable to the market for 30 to 50 years. Walter hopes that the items he collected will now find new homes with the next generation of collectors. Original Silvercopy UEFA Cup 1977 Juventus Torino - Official down scaled copy if the UEFA Cup for players of 1977 cup winner Juventus Turin. Hallmarked silver (800) on green marble foot and gold inscription ""Coupe UEFA"" with circular multicolour enamelled flags of the oarticipating countried. Made by Beroni, Milan. Height 26 cm, weight: 1.2 kg. The club that wins the UEFA Cup is allowed to produce copies of it for the players. Most clubs wouldn`t do this, though. Thus there are hardly any players` copies. Juventus Turin had copies made which are both beautiful, very detailed and highly valuable. The challenge Cup which was endowed by the UEFA in 1972 still circulates. It was designed by Swiss Axel Diggekmann and was made by Bertoni in Milan. In it`s old version the cup was awarded until the early1990ies. Afterwards the basis was changed. Today it has got a duble ring that shows the country flags. The Cup on offer today was made when there was the old version and comes fromthe collection of a former Turin player. Museum piece. Slightly tarnished.
German Football 1956 Golden Ring Karlsruher SC - Karlsruher SC golden ring of honour which was given to the players who won the Südmeisterschaft (Championship of the South) in 1956 and thus reached the German fchampionship final in Berlin 1956 (Borussia Dortmund v KSC 4:2). Gold (hallmarked, 585, weight 9.8 g) withinsertet blue gem which is engraved with the word KSC in gold letters. From the inheritance of a player. Rare.
