A pair of early 19th century diamond earrings, comprised of a central drop of a pear shaped rose cut diamond with a small rose cut diamond above, surrounded by a pear shaped ring of rose cut diamonds, the whole surmounted by a flowerhead of rose cut diamonds, overall total weight of diamonds estimated approx. 1.68cts, all set in unmarked white metal (tests as silver), with closed backs of unmarked yellow metal (tests as approx. 14ct gold or better), later fitted with hooks for pierced ears, each 36mm long, (5.4g gross). Overall condition very good.Possibly of Indian origin.Diamonds appear to be foil backed.Several stones are abraded.Largest drops 4.5 x 4mm.Difficult to assess colour and clarity due to closed back settings, but we would say approx. SI2 to I1.
