A fine 18ct white gold and platinum ring with a diamond and aquamarine oval cluster by Hancocks & Co, jeweller to the King, Bruton St, London and sold with their box. Provenance: This ring has the same provenance as the previous lot, a gift from Harry Welchman to Sylvia Forde. Sylvia Forde is the grandmother of the vendor, who was married to Harry Welchman, a well known music theatre actor in the 1920s and 30s, who was known at the time as 'The King of London'. Condition report: Total diamonds - 1.5ctAquamarine 1.5ctNot 100% certain, but we believe only the setting itself is platinum.

OF AUSTRALIAN AND NAVAL HISTORY; a good late Victorian 18ct yellow gold crown wind full hunter pocket watch, the outer case engraved with elaborate initials enclosing a two piece white enamel dial and with movement signed 'Wm. Angus & Sons, Lord Street, Liverpool 8/5576', the dust cover with presentation inscription 'Doctor Reginald Jones M.D. In Memory of Kind and Tender Care of Lady Rawson from Admiral Sir Harry H. Rawson K.C.B., Sydney, N.S.W. 3rd Dec. 1905', hallmarked for Sheffield 1883, diameter 5.3cm, approx 130g. Footnote: Admiral Sir Harry Holdsworth Rawson, GCB, GCMG was a senior officer in the Royal Navy. He is chiefly remembered for overseeing the British Benin expedition of 1897 that burned and looted the city of the Kingdom of Benin, now in Nigeria. No shame was attached to the event at the time, which amounted to a punitive expedition and Rawson was appointed Governor of New South Wales serving from 27th May 1902 to 27th May 1909. Admiral Rawson's wife, Lady Rawson passed away on December 3rd whilst travelling with her husband and two sons on board the Orient Steamer Ormuz. Provenance: Directly from the family.Additional InformationCase maker's initials are PW, the hinges to both back and front covers are sound and free from play, the dial has a very fine hairline crack running between seven and eight to the outer ring, when wound the watch is not ticking indicating some kind of issue, the diameter is contained within the main description.
