Please see below for your query regarding whether they are bone or ivory.Operculum mounted in un-hallmarked yellow metal (probably gold) not tested as I would ruin it, top ring probably not gold, citrine pendant all fittings appear to be un-hallmarked yellow metal. I'm particularly interested in the skulls, any damage to them ?A;- very tiny dent to both sides of one ring, and some polished out nicks that look like someone may have tested them for gold at some point. Are they definitely bone not ivory. we would not be able to sell them if they were ivory, without a Cites certificate, and these items would be below the threshold for that. They are definitely bone, as the surface is covered with tiny black dots, and channels, these are the tracks of blood vessels that would have supplied the bone with blood... ivory does not have this. Please see images in the condition report file."

JAMES H. McMINN OF (GREENOCK) MORTON F.C. - A 9ct GOLD SCOTTISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION SCOTTISH CUP 1921-22 WINNER'S MEDAL By Vaughton & Sons, Birmingham 1922, the suspension ring also stamped 9ct, total weight 21.88gms, engraved verso "Won by Morton F.C. 1921-22, James McMinn", housed in its original velvet-lined tooled leather fitted case, the lid impressed "Scottish Football Assoc'n". Born on February 22nd 1901 in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, James McMinn joined Morton F.C. in 1921. As such, aged just 21 and the youngest man on the field, he participated in the club's greatest ever success, defeating Rangers 1-0 in the 1922 Scottish Cup Final, for which he received the medal here offered. McMinn suffered tough treatment at the hands of the opposing defence, ultimately forcing him to retire late in the game for medical attention. Just before the final whistle however, McMinn made a heroic return to the fray, his exertions described admiringly by the Greenock Telegraph as "a triumph of spirit over pain". Whereas the vast majority of Morton's Cup-winning squad would go on to have successful and enduring careers, McMinn's was ended by 1924 - whether as a consequence of the injuries sustained in that fixture or a loss of form is not known. Thereafter, he worked as a travelling salesman in England and served in the RAF during the Second World War. With thanks to Graeme Ross for his assistance in cataloguing this lot. Condition Report:Available upon request
