The shank looks like a later replacement. It is worn, particularly at the open ends, and yellow is shining through - possibly gold beneath a worn rhodium plating. The shank has a mark, which could be Austrian although is hard to decipher. The aquamarine measures 16.85mm by 11.33mm by 6.99mm. The claws are a little worn, and require attention. The ring is white coloured - but would be expected to be yellow given it`s age. Perhaps it has been given a rhodium plating to create this effect. If so, this will wear in time, or can be removed if that is the preference. The ring is hallmarked with an obliterated maker`s mark, Birmingham, 1902. It is quite worn. The green stones are very scuffed. Tests were not diagnostic but appeared to indicate that they are demantoid garnets. An Emerald and Diamond Five Stone Ring, circa 1900, three graduated step cut emeralds alternate with two old cut diamonds, with tiny rose cut diamond accents, in a yellow claw and carved setting, on a plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 1.65 carat approximately, finger size M The centre emerald is chipped. One of the side emeralds has a fracture. Other than that the condition is reasonably good, with expected wear, and scuffs to the emeralds. It bears no hallmark, nor stamps, but in our opinion it would test as gold. The diamonds measure; 5.92mm x 5.78mm x 3.74mm (0.89ct) and 5.92mm x 5.97mm x 3.18mm (0.78ct). The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I/J, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 5.8 grams. CR made 1st October 2014

A Ring, possibly Medieval, a triangular shaped cabochon purpley-red stone collet set in a yellow mount, on a wire shank, finger size O approximately The setting is worn and the shank is out of shape. It bears no marks, nor stamps. In our opinion it would test as gold. Tests on the stone were not conclusive. Possibly a ruby, but sold unidentified. Gross weight 1.6 grams. It is stamped `18CT&PLATINUM` and in our opinion it would test as a platinum setting on a gold shank. The principal diamond measures; 5.52mm x 5.61mm x 3.32mm.
