Seltenes klassizistisches Ringstein-KabinettGelbgold. Ring in flacher Marquiseform, der ovale Wechsel-Ringkopf scharniert und mit umlaufend ziseliertem Lorbeerfries. Dazu 40 austauschbare Oval-Cabochons aus unterschiedlichen polierten Achaten (ca. 25,7 x 15,3 mm) mit rückseitiger Nummerierung. Präsentiert auf zwei samtgefütterten Tabletts mit türkisfarbenem Papierbezug, für den Ring eine durchgehende Aussparung in der Mitte. Dazu ein entsprechend bezogenes Heftchen mit handgeschriebenem Katalog der Mineralien in deutscher Sprache. Das originale Etui in Buchform mit goldgeprägtem Lederrücken bez. "AMUSEMENT LITHOLOGIQUE" und mit herausziehbarem Karton-Schuber. Nicht gestempelt. Etui mit feinen Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Ring: RW 55, Gewicht (ohne Stein) 3,95 g. Amedist (Amethyst) Mutter".Diese seltenen Ringstein- und Schmucksteinkabinette, die in der Tradition der fürstlichen Kunst- und Wunderkammern stehen, sind ein Ausdruck der späten deutschen Aufklärung im ausgehenden 18. Jh. Mit dem Aufblühen der Naturwissenschaften wurde auch die Mineralogie zu einem Sammelgebiet, dem sich nun verstärkt sowohl Gelehrte, als auch Amateure des aufstrebenden Bildungsbürgertums widmeten. Wie der Titel „Amusement Lithologique“ verrät, dienten diese handlichen Ring- und Schmucksteinsammlungen nicht allein dem rein wissenschaftlichen Interesse des Sammlers, sondern auch der persönlichen Erbauung. Die aus der ganzen Welt zusammengetragenen farbigen Steine waren variabel als modisches Accessoire tragbar und demonstrierten Bildung und Weltgewandtheit des Trägers.LiteraturVgl. Kugel (Hrsg.), Gold, Jasper and Carnelian, Johann Christian Neuber at the Saxonian Court, London 2012, S. 37 - 98, S. 381 ff. Insgesamt werden hier 21 bisher recherchierte Schmuckstein- bzw. Ringstein-Kabinette angeführt, die nach Dresden oder Augsburg lokalisiert und zwischen 1790 und 1801 datiert werden. Fünf davon sind in vergleichbarer Buchform, tragen ebenfalls den Titel "Amusement Lithologique" (RK 7-11) und werden der Werkstatt des Dresdener Meisters Johann Christian Neuber zugeschrieben. Davon hat sich nur bei einem Exemplar mit 41 rechteckigen Steinplaketten und mit französischem Katalogheft, der originale Ring erhalten (RK 8, Kunsthandel Laue, München). Stilistisch aus dem selben Atelier wie unseres stammen wohl ein Schmuckstein-Kabinett mit 63 Plaketten in der Wiener Sammlung Simone und Peter Huber (RK9) sowie ein weiteres mit 105 Cabochons aus dem Besitz der Anna Freiin von Maltzahn, das sich heute in einer deutschen Privatsammlung befindet. (RK 10). Beide verfügen auch über ein vergleichbares deutsches Katalogheft.

A green enamel and diamond set band ring, the court section band inlaid with channels of green enamel, spaced by lozenge-shaped clusters of round brilliant-cut diamonds, 18ct gold mounted, hallmarked for Birmingham 1997, ring size MLight surface wear, scuffs and nicks to mount, commensurate for occasional use. One of the enamel channels has a small shallow chip/nick, but otherwise the enamel is in very good condition. Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, each weighing approx. 0.02ct. Total diamond weight approx. 0.16ct. Hallmarks are clearly struck, maker's mark 'CG&S'. Width of band approx. 4.6mm. Gross weight approx. 6.9gm.

An Edwardian 9ct gold Albert chain, of curb-link design, with swivel clasps, maker's mark WHW LD, hallmarked for Birmingham 1908, suspending a T-bar and a key pendant, chain length 41.5cmGeneral wear throughout, with scuffs. scratches, chips and nicks, commensurate for age and use. Hallmarks are located near to the jump rings near to the T-bar and have patchy wear. The T-bar and curb links also have marks, with patchy wear. Some of the links and jump rings have areas of thinning. The clasps also have a little thinning but both are functioning. The key pendant has worn thin to the top and the jump ring connected to it has dings and dents. Gross weight approximately 38gm (metal standard of key pendant untested).

The diamond points are lively but one has a sizeable chip. The ring mount has surface wear, scuffs and nicks, with later added sizing beads to the back of the shank, maker's mark 'WT LTD'. The edges of the setting have patchy wear. Marks are clearly struck. Gross weight approx. 6.1gm.

Diamonds have slightly variable colour, some stones with yellowish tints, but give an overall fairly bright appearance. Total diamond weight approx. 0.12ct. The ring mount has general surface wear, marks are clearly struck. Length of setting approx. 1.3cm. Gross weight approx. 4.4gm.

A ruby and diamond cluster ring, the oval mixed-cut ruby claw set within a surround of round brilliant-cut diamonds, 18ct two colour gold mounted, hallmarked for London 1984, total diamond weight approximately 0.50ct, ring size LThe ruby has a mid pinkish/purplish-red hue and contains fracture and mineral inclusions, with scuffs, nicks and chips to the surface, measuring approx. 6.2mm length x 5mm width x 3mm depth. Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, with estimated VS1 to SI1 clarity and H to J colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount has surface wear, marks are clearly struck. Length of setting approx. 1.15cm. Gross weight approx. 2.1gm.

A gold and enamel ring, possibly 16th century, modelled as a dog seated amongst grass heightened with green enamel, between strapwork shoulders, the hoop with engraved sides, ring size approximately M to NRings presented as love tokens in the 16th century often incorporated symbolism. Due to its faithful disposition, the dog was adopted as a sign of fidelity between lovers and enduring love. Small traces of possible enamel to strapwork shoulders. The shank is slightly mis-shapen and may previously have been re-sized. Gold standard is untested. The dog motif measures approx. 7mm in width x 5mm in height. The hoop tapers in width from approx. 4mm at its widest point at the shoulders to 1.2mm at the back of the shank. Gross weight approx. 2.1gm.

A sapphire and diamond cluster ring, the oval mixed-cut sapphire claw set within an old-cut diamond border, between scrolled openwork shoulders, 18ct gold mounted, hallmarked for London 1976, total diamond weight approximately 0.60ct, ring size J½The sapphire has a light to mid blue hue with a purplish tint and contains inclusions such as fractures, fissures and faint colour zoning, visible under close inspection. The sapphire has chips, nicks and scuffs, commensurate for use, and measures approximately 7.6mm length x 4.7mm width x 3.8mm depth. Diamonds have variable colour and clarity and variable facet symmetry and depth, some stones drawing yellowish tints and/or with facet edge abrasion, small chips and nicks. Estimated SI1 to P1 clarity and H to K/L colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips and the shank has been re-sized. Some of the claws have lifted and other claws are worn and require re-tipping. Hallmarks are clearly struck, maker's mark is 'HAJ'. Gross weight approximately 4.5gm.

A diamond full hoop ring, claw set throughout with round brilliant-cut diamonds, white precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 2.70ct, ring size M½Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, each weighing approx. 0.12ct to 0.13ct in size, with estimated VS1 to SI1 clarity and I to K colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount is relatively modern with light surface wear. Metal standard is untested but the mount is likely to be white gold. Width of band approx. 3.2mm. Gross weight approx. 3.5gm.
