Incredibly rare Victorian buckle ring, stamped and tested 15ct, with foliate engraved pattern and engraved with the initials F.C. and the year 1882. A hidden compartment under the articulated buckle itself opens to reveal a pair of clasped hands - making this a hidden "fede" ring, a symbol of friendship, love or betrothal. The fede beneath has been tested with KEE gold tester and is assessed as a higher grade of gold, above 22ct, suggestive of an earlier piece being encapsulated within a Victorian casing. The buckle is a symbol of sentimental, binding love between the wearer and the giver. Gross weight 7.4 grams. Size R.
