Medium size conchoidal fracture to the paste dropper, moderate scratching and small nibbles to both stones. All claws and settings are in tact. Moderate denting/bending to the frame. One of the supporting bars to the central stone has broken (see picture for illustration.)Chain: Good order. No splits or signs of repair to the links. Some denting, and general signs of scratching and wear. Spring ring in good working order.

A late Edwardian amethyst set 9ct gold ring, the central oval mixed cut amethyst (measuring 6.5mm x 4.5mm), bezel set 9ct gold to a plain polished shank, marks for Birmingham 1910, O 1/2, weight 1.6gms Condition Report; Please note: This stone has not been tested for natural or synthetic origin. It has been inspected under a 10x lens, and contains inclusions consistent with those found in natural examples.The central stone shows some large scratches to the central table and outer facets, and some abrasion and light nibbles to the facet edges. No major fractures or losses visible.The bezel setting is in good order, no signs of splitting or thinning. There is possible signs of repair where the bezel meets the shoulders (see additional images for details). The shank does show possible signs of repair or re-sizing (see additional pictures for details). There is some thinning to the base of the shank, but no splits or misshaping. General scratching, wear and tear consistent with age and wear. Hallmarks to shank and to the bezel setting are clear.

Central stone has some small nibbles to the girdle, and some light scratching and wear to the upper facets, but no fractures, large scratching or chips. Claws around the central stone are secure and in good order. Diamonds are all present and in good order, no chips, fractures or notable damage, some light wear and scratching only. Claws around the diamonds are secure and in good order. Shank in good order, no thinning, splitting, denting or repair, general scratching and wear to the exterior commensurate with wear.The claws around the central sapphire are white gold, the claws around the diamonds are white tipped, fading to yellow gold as it meets the basket.

An Edwardian sapphire and diamond three stone ring, comprising a round mixed cut sapphire measuring 5.5mm diameter, with a round old cut diamond to either side, all claw set to an 18ct yellow gold band, marked for Birmingham 1905, ring size G, weight 2.0gmsCondition Report; Sapphire: Fair order. There is heavy abrasion, scratching and some small chips to the table of the stone, concentrated on the facet edges. No cracks or large loss. Underside of of the stone is in good order. Please note: This sapphire has not been tested for natural or synthetic origin.Diamonds: Both present. There is a medium size chip to the girdle of one of the diamonds. Scratching and wear present to both diamonds. Underside of stones in good order.Very heavy wear to the claws on all stones; re-tipping required.Shank shows quite heavy thinning, but no signs of re-sizing or repair.Exactly diamond weights can not be accurately calculated, however the diamonds are estimated to be around 0.15 carats each.

Großer Baum der Zuflucht (Tshog shing)Tibet, 19. Jh.88 x 65 cm (160 x 112cm)Tempera und Gold auf Baumwollgewebe, originale Brokateinfassung. Dieses außergewöhnliche und beeindruckende Tempelbild in ansprechenden Farben, zeigt den aus dem kosmischen Meer entstandenen unermesslichen Wunschbaum, der reichlich mit Früchten geschmückt ist, die hier die Form von Buddhas und veschiedenen lamaistischen Gottheiten haben. In der Baumkrone thront der Wurzellama, der hier die Gestalt eines Gelbmützen-Lama (Tsongkhapa?) hat. In der linken Hand hat der Patriarch eine Almosenschale, die rechte zeigt die Mudra der Lehrverkündigung. Links und rechts seiner Schultern ranken zwei blaue Utpalablüten auf denen sich seine Attribute - Vajra und Glocke - befinden. In seinem Herzzentrum erscheint der Buddha Shakyamuni, der historische Buddha, und in dessen Herzen der blaue Adibuddha Vajradhara mit seiner Partnerin. Vor dem Lama befinden sich Lamas der Überlieferungslinie. Unter dem Wurzellama erscheinen ringförmig angeordnet, zehn Klassen von Buddhas und lamaistischen Gottheiten, die die unterschiedlichen Grade des im Vajrayana-Buddhismus vermittelten Wissens symbolisieren. Die auf diesen Stufen angeordneten "Heilsfreunde“ sind als Vertreter ihrer Klassen anzusehen. Man kann in diesem Zufluchtsbaum zwei Arten von für die Erleuchtung hilfreichen Wesen unterscheiden: 1. Auf den sechs unteren Blütenringen die Buddhas, Bodhisattvas und Beschützer. 2. Auf den obersten vier Ringen die tantrischen Gottheiten, die als eine bildliche Darstellung des in den Tantas gelehrten Wissens zu verstehen sind. Auf dem untersten Ring sind die Dharmapalas, die die "Lehre“ schützen und dem Meditierenden dienen, indem sie Hindernisse beseitigen. In dem zweiten Blütenring verweilen die Achtzehn Arhats . Auf dem dritten Ring zeigen sich die Acht Bodhisattvas die „Acht großen Söhne“ oder Nachfolger Buddhas. Auf dem nächstoberen, dem vierten Blütenring befinden sich die Zwölf Pratyekabuddhas , die aus eigener Kraft einen niedrigeren Grad der Erleuchtung erlangt haben, aber nicht zum Wohle aller Lebewesen die Lehre verkündet haben. Die nächsten Ringe nehmen die „Fünfunddreißig Reinigenden Buddhas“ ein. Die auf den vier obersten Ringen verweilenden Gottheiten sind, als bildliche Darstellungen des in den Tantras gelehrten Wissens anzusehen und können für den Meditierenden auch als Yidam fungieren. Unten vor dem Baum sieht man die vier Lokapalas, sowie die "Acht Glückszeichen“. Ferner ist in der unteren rechten Ecke ein Meditierender vor einem Tempel abgebildet, der dem "Feld der Ansammlung" ein Mandala-Opfer mit dem Weltberg Meru darbringt. Dieser Weltenberg ist in voller Größe vor ihm abgebildet. In der gegenüberliegenden Ecke ist der Palast eines Weltenherrschers (Chakravartin) abgebildet, mit seinen Sieben Glückssymbolen. Links und rechts neben dem Stamm des Wunderbaumes befinden sich weitere Glückssymbole. Auf der rechten und linken Seite des Wurzellamas finden sich in Wolken gehüllt zwei Gruppen von Lamas, die jeweils einen Bodhisattva umgeben. Es handelt sich dabei um die Sukzessionslinien zweier sich auf den ersten Blick widersprechender Lehrrichtungen buddhistischer Philosophie, d.h. zweier verschiedener Wege zur Erleuchtung. Auf der rechten Seite ist die Yogacara-Schule abgebildet, die lehrt, daß alle augenscheinlich verschiedenartigen Dinge von der "Einen Leere“ durchdrungen werden. Auf der linken Seite des Wurzellamas, befindet sich die Sukzessionslinie der Madhyamika Schule, d.h. die Reihe derer, die den mittleren Weg zwischen den Extremen geht. In ihrer Mitte erscheint der Bodhisattva Manjushri. Im himmlischen Bereich in Wolken gehüllt befindet sich die Darstellung der direkten Übertragung mit Buddha Vajradhara und seiner Partnerin, darunter der Weisheitsbodhisattva Manjushri und unter ihm der Bergründer der Gelugpa-Schule - Tsong khapa (1357-1419).
