The 1978 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship Ring awarded to the New York Cosmos equipment manager Charles Martinelli,10k gold set with a diamond by Balfour, inscribed COSMOS, NASL CHAMPIONS, COSMOS STAFF, SOCCER BOWL 78, AUGUST 27 1978, in original box of issue bearing the Cosmos logo and with a typescript paper label reading CHARLES MARTINELLI, 8 1/2In 1978 Cosmos retained their NASL Championship title by beating Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-1 in the Soccer Bowl. The match was played at the Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey.The MVP was the former Sunderland and Manchester City player Dennis Tueart who scored two of the goals, the other being netted by Cosmos stalwart Giorgio Chinaglia.
