A Regency gold and enamel musical seal/fob,probably Swiss. A closed crescent style top decorated with wheat ear husks and bows, with polychrome enamel decoration to a textured ground. A central key set with faceted red paste to a plain oval base, with chased split ring, c.1830. Tested as approximately 18ct gold, split ring tested as approximately 9ct gold. 60 x 28 x 23mm, 21.30gCondition report: Noticeable scratches and marks to the base. Light surface marks commensurate with its age. Some loss of enamel.Dirty.Feels fragile when being wound.The bale is not pinned to the winding stem and will lift off.The tune that plays seems somewhat fast.AMENDMENT The bale is now too loose to wind the mechanism and hear it play.The bale fitting to the winding stem was always loose, but in trying to wind it to produced a recording, it came off completely. It did wind prior to this, but as it is now detached, it will not wind. There is a video recording available on our website. There is a very small pin hole on the winding stem where the bale needs to be re-attached.
