A khula-khud and a sipar dating: circa 1800 provenance: India Helmet with strong, hemispherical, iron skull, featuring remains of damask and remains of small, gold-inlaid floral motifs; surmounted by a plume-holder decorated with rings and gold segments (small defects at the base); on a wide plaque roped at the border and festooned at the margin, the surface of the plaque richly decorated with gold-inlaid racemes. At the front part of the skull a loop for the nose-piece (now missing), fixed though hinges on a lily-shaped plaque, this element too enriched with gold-inlaid racemes. The border of the helmet with a festooned ring-nut en suite as the upper plaque and with roping (a part missing). Complete with iron mail neck-defence of simple closed rings, fringed border.Small, circular and convex, damask shield (26.2 cm diameter); provided with four iron studs featuring remains of gold inlays and festooned border; the more external band of the surface decorated with remains of gold inlays depicting frames, featuring a series of cartouches with gilt inscriptions in Arabic characters.
