A Regency rosewood and satinwood bookstand with a three quarter galleried back on slender baluster uprights and fretwork supports above a parquetry veneered top and a beaded plinth with a full width apron drawer, raised on squat bun feet 37cm wide, 17cm high, 27cm deep Provenance: This bookstand was featured on BBC Radio 4's'Talking about Antiques' show in 1976 is accompanied by a letter from Arthur Negus.
A Discophonette 78 rpm juke box, with radio receiver in upper tier, 16-disc magazine, conventional turntable and wood pick-up arm and electro-pneumatic drive to selector mechanism, in three-tier oak case of Art Deco design with red and white plastic illuminated corner panels, glazed doors to radio dial and turntable compartments and speaker in base with chrome grille, 57½in. high, 40in. wide, 41½in. deep at base, with label of C. Hoebeke-van Den Eynde, Dendermonde. Note: Made by the Belgian organ builders Bartholemew Brothers, who adapted organ building technology for this early post-war juke box, thus overcoming the metal shortage of the time. The coin-slot is marked for 1 franc.

North and R. Glendenning), 1953 (4 BBC discs), 1954 (6 BBC discs) and a 5 disc set for an unknown year and in poor condition; together with 5 audio tapes for the Grand National of 1953 to 1957 inclusive, and 13 further boxed tape recordings for the Grand Nationals of 1965 to 1973 inclusive with four of the commentaries extending two tapes, and four miscellaneous tapes comprising a BBC Radio Merseyside interview with Mirabel Topham dated 1969 and titled 'Larger Than Life.' another Radio Merseyside interview with the Aintree administrator Mr Kirkpatrick in 1971, a BBC tape titled 'Portrait of Britain-Aintree', a further tape with content unknown and a rare acetate 78 rpm gramophone disc from the Topham family sound archive with Australian race commentaries for the 1931 Melbourne Cup and the 1954 Caulfield Cup
A FIFA outside broadcasters RCA (Radio Corporation of America) microphone, with a swivel mouth piece fitted with bakelite frame, inscription reads "FIFA Radio" on the front and "On Air" to the reverse, in a Perspex display case, 41cm., 16in. This lot comes with official documentation which reads. This Historic item was used from the early 1950's through to the mid 1960's to record important World Cup and various International tournaments in Europe and Latin America. Over the most important years FIFA shared common space with the Worlds most famous football sports network radio broadcasters. The microphone was gifted to The General Secretary of The Real Federation Espanola de Futbol from Comite Ejecutivo FIFA. The microphone had formed an important broadcast display at the AFA Museum in Buenos Aires following its donation from Spain's FEF Museum in 1968 signed Fernando Alta Villa, June 15th 1989, Buenos Aires.
