2008 Mercedes-Benz S500 Transmission: automaticMileage:37299The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury saloon and was officially introduced in 1972 succeeding previous Mercedes-Benz models dating back to the mid-1950s. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features and safety systems (such as seatbelt pre-tensioners). The W220 S-Class was completely restyled in 1999 with a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and active ventilated seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations). This lovely left hand drive example from Japan, is presented in silver with black leather interior which looks amazing considering it's 14 years old! This luxurious saloon comes with electric sunroof, electric heated memory seats to the front, cruise control, electric steering column, climate control and its Japanese service stickers can still be seen on the vehicle. Since the vendor's ownership, the car has benefitted from an oil and fluid change, the fitting of a Pioneer Bluetooth radio, (the original was dated and in Japanese) and has undergone a general condition check to ensure all was well with the car. This is a wonderful example in great condition throughout, which belies its age and is powered by the smooth five litre V8. This really is a superb luxury saloon that has just returned from a trip around the continent, where the vendor reports the car ran faultlessly and was both comfortable, quiet and fast.
1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:71986From its launch in 1961 to the end of its production in 1975, the Jaguar E-Type went from design revelation to motoring icon in a generation. Based on Jaguar's three time Le Mans winning D-Type and known internationally for its beautiful sleek lines and a top speed of 150mph, this revolutionary car had three significant series changes during its 14-year build span. Each model enjoyed subtle changes which included chassis length, headlight style and switchgear but all retained the famous Jaguar DNA instilled by the company's founder Sir William Lyons. In Series II guise around 1,000 right hand drive Series II fixedhead Coupés were eventually made, making it a rare iteration of the E-Type. This stunning fixedhead E-Type was first registered in May 1970 and supplied by Cox Jaguar of Keighley. The first owner kept the car until 1978 and the second owner for a further 25 years. Having covered some 68,000 miles up until 2003, before being sold to its third custodian, who did less than 2,000 miles in his ownership until 2007. The car was then purchased by Racing Green, Jaguar specialists who embarked on a year-long restoration which included the body, a full interior retrim and a thorough mechanical overhaul. Works included new brakes and servo, a stainless steel exhaust system, Koni classic shock absorbers all round, a new cooling system and a set of five MSW Chrome Wheels with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres. The restoration stayed true to the car's originality with no radio or wing mirrors fitted as that is how the car left the factory. Still wearing its original registration for which it has never deviated from in 52 years. Purchased by our vendor in 2009 as a retirement present, this was to be his €˜last and best E-Type'. Remarkably, less than 1,500 dry miles have been covered in nearly 14 years, but no expense has been spared on servicing and upkeep. Supplied with invoices exceeding £15,000 for servicing, ignition maintenance, carburettor tuning, a new alternator, heating system overhaul, a new clutch with associated cylinders, regular geometry checks and adjustments. The result, we are informed, is a car that drives superbly and the vendor states, the best E-Type I have driven with oodles of torque, a lovely gearbox, precise handling and most importantly, a car that has been totally reliable. This, alongside the quality restoration that still looks sharp nearly 14 years later makes for a very compelling E-Type, which is now being sold as the owner is in his advanced years. Supplied with its original service book and service invoices dating back to 1970, owner's manual, the original service facilities booklet, a raft of receipts as well as all previous owner information. This is a great opportunity to buy a properly sorted E-Type that ticks all the boxes.
1984 Ford Capri 2.8i Transmission: automaticMileage:123412The Ford Capri was the Ford Mustang of Europe. A mind-boggling array of options meant that the Capri could be whatever you wanted it to be; just like the Mustang. The Capri was, in fact, a far more varied animal than the Mustang with engines ranging from 1300cc to 3100cc as well as a myriad of trim specifications. The most popular engine was the 1600cc unit. The Capri was released to the press on 24th January 1969 at the Brussels Motor Show. There had previously been a press preview in Cyprus, but Ford had requested that nothing about the new car be published until 24th January to coincide with the motor show. Surprisingly, this request was honoured, and the Capri caused a sensation. For the 1982 model year, a new sporty version debuted at the Geneva Motor Show called the 2.8 Injection. Power rose to a claimed 160bhp giving a top speed of 130mph.This very nice example is presented in red with grey cloth interior and comes with the rare option of a three-speed automatic gearbox. It also comes with a sunroof, its original pepper pot wheels, original brochure, handbook, service book and it still has its original radio cassette player. The car sits on a set of new Vredestein Sprint tyres and is fitted with a Sigma alarm and immobiliser. There is a photograph album showing the restoration in 2006 by Ford Allen and it comes with two alarm fobs and three sets of keys. An iconic Ford with performance to match!
1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Transmission: automaticMileage:94900The R107 and C107 Mercedes-Benz SL variants have long been revered amongst classic car devotees, being built to exacting engineering standards and with a subtle air of sophistication. These cars were built from 1971 through to 1989, the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL (R107) was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top, optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Its sibling, the SLC (C107) or €˜SL Coupé' derivative, was a two-door hardtop Coupé with normal rear seats. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury Coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty Coupé.This nice left hand drive example is presented in white with grey/black interior which has been reupholstered in herringbone and looks very presentable indeed. The car comes with electric windows, cassette radio, some previous servicing receipts, old MoT test certificates and its UK V5 Registration Document. These 2+2 German luxury touring sports Coupés are very sought after and being offered at No reserve, this example is surely one to go for!Interested parties should note that this car has developed an electrical fault which now prevents it from starting. Also, it has partially seized on its brakes and cannot be driven away and will need transporting.

Two large modern albums, 1970s, containing approximately 100 large photographs showing giant receivers in various remote parts of the world and other equipment and Marconi enterprisesGuglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) was an Italian inventor, electrical engineer and diplomat. He is known for his pioneering work on long-distance radio transmission and for his development of Marconi's law and a radio telegraph system. Regarded as the inventor of radio he shared the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics with one of his closest rivals in the field, Karl Ferdinand Braun, 'in recognition of their contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy'. In 1897 Marconi founded the Wireless Telegraph & Signal Company (later the Marconi Company). Its aim was to develop the Marconi apparatus commercially; the first manufacturing works were established in Chelmsford in an old silk factory. Over the next few years the Company rented land and buildings in London, Cornwall, North America and elsewhere. In 1901, Marconi achieved communication over 198 miles between the Isle of Wight and the Lizard in Cornwall. In December of the same year, history was made when Marconi transmitted the letter S of the Morse code (three dots) across the Atlantic from Poldhu in Cornwall to Signal Hill, St. John's, Newfoundland. He had taken on John Ambrose Fleming, a brilliant scholar and a skilled practical engineer who had been an electrical advisor to Thomas Edison; Fleming proved invaluable at Poldhu, designing and operating the generator. One of Marconi's ambitions was to give sailors and passengers in challenging or potentially disastrous situations at sea the means to communicate - most clearly demonstrated when the 'Titanic' sank: the distress calls from Marconi's wireless installation on 'Titanic' saved 700 lives.During the 1920s, assisted by C. S. Franklin, an eminent engineer, Marconi turned his attention to short-wave directional transmissions, known as the 'Empire Beam' system. This met with a favourable response and Marconi's dream of global radio communication was established. The company was also involved in the beginnings of public broadcasting in England, the first being a recital performed by the singer Dame Nellie Melba in 1920. A couple of years later the British Broadcasting Company (later 'Corporation') was born and the population could now enjoy radio and later television in their own homes. Marconi believed that wireless would save lives and hoped it would help to bring peace to the world. Shortly before he died he was made Lord Rector of St Andrews University and was heard to say 'Have I done the world good, or have I added a menace?' What began as pioneering experiments in the Italian countryside had, in his lifetime, grown to an international company with many subsidiaries all over the world. The present important archive shows the astounding and rapid expansion of one of the world's great business enterprises in a field that has now assumed global significance - engineering, communications, wireless telegraphy, communications, electronics. The 28 volumes comprising the Register of Agreements cover company business ranging from the purchasing of patents, patent applications and licences, broadcasting licences, tenancy, land and property agreements and bank and company agreements from the very first day of business on July 22 1897. There are also agreements regarding the construction of telegraph stations, inventions, wireless equipment and hire purchase.Five of the volumes in the archive bear the multiple signatures of Guglielmo Marconi, his brother Alfonso, and those of other directors and secretaries in the Company: Henry W. Allen, W. W. Bradfield, M. A Bramston, S. Geoghegan, Godfrey C. Isaacs, Alfonso Marconi, H. Riall Sankey, Henry S. Saunders, S. St. J. Steadman and Sir Charles J. Stewart.
