Lot 838

Collection of Second World War and later logbooks, formerly the property of Alfred William Steventon. His varied flying career began in 1942 when he joined the R.A.F. as a radio officer, later in 1944 he was seconded to B.O.A.C. He flew around the Middle East and North Africa, mainly in the Red Sea area with Aden Airways before returning to fly on the inaugural Comet service to Colombo in 1952. His personal flying logbook details his first Comet flight on GALYR on 26th February 1952. Later in the 1960's he went on to fly on Britannia's including on 28th January 1962, flying under Captain Norman Tebbit with Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon on board. An interesting archive.
