A pleasing model of a single masted ocean going powered motor yacht. A fine plank on frame wooden model (made to sail/run) hull measuring 92cm, keel to mast top 150cm. Fully rigged and fitted with two white sails, planked teak decking fitted with lift off cabin superstructure, for access to electric motor and radio control unit. Further fitted with capstans, port and starboard lights, searchlight and twin sirens. To deck stern is a small inflatable boat. The hull upper is painted in cream with dark blue lower and keel, with red cheat line. Also fitted with rudder, single propeller and weighted keel. Mounted on a simple stand. GC-VGC light cleaning required. See internet
MOLOTOV VYACHESLAV: (1890-1986) Russian Statesman. Chairman of the Council of People´s Commissars of the Soviet Union 1930-41, and Minister of Foreign Affairs 1939-49 & 53-56. His remembered "nyet" at meetings of the UN became a byword of the Cold War. Two A.Ns.S., both in blue pencil, one page, 4to, n.p., n.d., in Cyrillic. The first annotation to the upper part of the document, signed A. Mikoyan, in Cyrillic, reads in full `To Com[rade] Molotov: Please acquaint yourself with the enclosed documents, and let´s call each other later´. The second annotation immediately below Mikoyan´s one, signed V. Molotov, corresponds to Molotov´s response and states in full `Read them. We have come to an arrangement about delivering by C. Kuznetsov information about British radio stations in our North.´ Some overall age wear and corner crease, otherwise VG. £400-600 Molotov´s name is preserved in the "Molotov cocktail", a bottle of inflammable liquid used as a weapon, which he put into production during World War II. Anastas Mikoyan (1895-1978) Soviet statesman during the mandates of Lenin Stalin, Khrushchev and Brezhnev. Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union 1964-65. A highly influential politician who dominated the supervision of foreign and domestic trade during Stalin and Khrushchev administrations.
MARCONI GUGLIELMO: (1874-1937) Italian Inventor, developed a radio telegraph system. Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1909. A.N.S, Guglielmo Marconi, n.p., n.d., to Dott. Arnaldo Mussolini, in Italian. Marconi writes on both sides of his personal visiting card a seven lines note, stating in `We have so much appreciated your today´s visit and we thank you again. I hope to be able to send you shortly the “response”… Marconi crosses out his post beneath his name "Senator of Kingdom" because he is addressing his note to Arnaldo Mussolini. Together with Maria Cristina Bezzi Scali Marconi (1900-1994) Second wife of Marconi. A.N.S., Maria Cristina Marconi, n.p., n.d., to Arnaldo Mussolini, in Italian. On his printed personal visiting card featuring “Marchesa Marconi”, Marquise Marconi, Maria Cristina states `Thank you very much for the very beautiful flowers which I appreciate so much...´. Also including the original envelope, bearing to the verso the stamped address of the Senate, signed to the left bottom corner G M by Marconi, and addressed `To the Grand Officer, Doctor Arnaldo Mussolini, Stagione P.P, Genova´ in his hand. An interesting set. VG, 2 £200-300 Arnaldo Mussolini (1885-1931) Italian Journalist and Politician. Brother of Italy's Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
RYLE MARTIN: (1918-1984) English Astronomer. He developed revolutionary radio telescope and was first to observe most distant galaxies in his time. Astronomer Royal, and Nobel Prize for Physics in 1974, being the first Nobel for astronomical research. A fine T.L.S., Martin Ryle, one page, folio, Cambridge, 12th May 1975, to Mr. Godward. Ryle responds to his correspondent´s question on the printed stationery of the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory, Canedish Laboratory, Cambridge, and states `…Yes. - I think it is very probable that there are planets of other stars which may have physical conditions suitable for the development of life, and on some of these life may well have developed. At the same time the chance of one being near enough to us for communication to be possible must be rather small.´ and continues `What I meant in the letter to the Times by “stellar distance” is an approximate figure for the distance of the pulsars - i.e. much greater than the dimensions of the Solar System, but still much less than the dimensions of the Galaxy. The nearest stars are a few light-years away, - corresponding to a distance of about 50 million million miles.´ A very interesting content letter. Accompanied by the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory leaflet describing the observatory. Together with an A.L.S., by Ryle´s wife, responding to Miss Walton that her husband is very occupied and cannot reply to her, adding `He would get no work done on Radio Astronomy, or Nuclear or Alternative Energy, if he spent his time replying….He does like simplicity..´. Wg Cdr R.A.G. Ellen OBE RAF33 8 5 1975 Aisne 30th Anniversary of VE Day No 57 Squadron Flown in a Lancaster. Signed by Sqn Ldr CCB Seymour who flew the covers in a Victor K1 on an air to air refuelling exercise. Scarce variety also signed by Wg Cdr R.A.G. Ellen OBE, CO of 57 Sqn who was shot down in 1940 flying an 82 Sqn Blenheim. He escaped from a train but was recaptured and sent to Stalag Luft III where he became officer i/c secret radio for the "Great Escape". Numbered just 24 of 38 covers signed. Good condition
