Sir Geoffrey Harmsworth’s Scrapbook of the airship “Graf Zeppelin” 2nd England Flight. A large (34cmx28cm) hardbound scrapbook of the journalist’s journey on the Graf Zeppelin, and later events including the photographs of the Dornier X. The scrapbook contains a variety of interesting items, including: Zeppelin Passenger regulations leaflet, Ticket for embarkation at the London Air Park (Feltham), menus and radio-telegram flimsy. Newspaper articles covering the flight, including by Geoffrey Harmsworth himself, and letters by to Harmsworth from the Master of Semphill (recently revealed as a spy for Japan from the 1920’s onward) and lady Drogheda among others. 19 photographs (25cmx20cm) relating to the Graf Zeppelin flight, showing passengers and crew, including Hugo Eckner at work and dinner, and aerial photographs of London from the ship. Also Imperial Airways Gazette of November 1930, and 12 photographs (25cmx20cm) of a Handley Page HP42 at Croydon Airport. Also 13 very rare photographs of the famous Dornier prototype seaplane, the DO-X on the water and flying. GC See Plate 13

A stool designed in a very limited quantity for the Radio house in Copenhagen, beech and patinated cognac leather, floating seat construction. Haut. 46,3 cm - Diam. 45 cm / Height. 18 1/4 in. - Diam. 17 3/4 in. Historique : Vilhelm Lauritzen fut un des architectes les plus influents des années 30 et 40, fondateur de la firme Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter toujours en activité. A la fin des années 30, ses techniques et structures innovantes le rendent très proche du mouvement fonctionnaliste, c`est sur cette base stylistique qu`il conçut un modernisme retenu qui fût la base de son oeuvre à partir des années 30 et grâce auquel il fut reconnu. Il fut également le premier employeur de Finn Juhl. The architect Lauritzen was one of the most influential designers of the 1930/40`s, founder of the still active architectural firm Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter. At the end of the 30`s, he became acquainted with the latest trends in Functionalist architecture with its technical and structural innovations. This inspired him to a grounded and restrained Modernism and it was with such buildings that he had his breakthrough. He was also the first employer of Finn Juhl.

The Syd Lord Collection of Scratch Built Models, 1936 - 1997 A 1/120 scale 1/10" to 1ft working scratch built model of the "London Craftsman" dry cargo ship. A well-detailed model with engine room and model diesel engine, geared electric drive motor with stop, start, forward, reverse and speed control; multi diesel sound generator, water cooling pump, working windlass and anchors. The model is fitted with a grate, flue and draught box which is double cased for burning oily rags or cotton for real smoke effect, the derricks can be raised manually. The model operates by a six-channel radio control obtaining eight functions by use of micro switches, po-po switches from servos. The model comes with literature sheets, presentation awards/trophies and an album of photographs that were taken by Mr P.A. Crowson of Macclesfield and presented to Mr Syd Lord. 140cm long, presented on a wooden stand. Provenance - built by Mr Syd Lord between 1986 and 1989 using mostly scrap wood, metal and various other materials. The model featured in the "Marine Modelling" magazine in September 1989, see p.53
