Radiations from Radioactive Substances, first edition, signed presentation copy from C.D.Ellis to his parents inscribed on front free endpaper and with printed slip tipped in, original green cloth, Cambridge, 1930 § Rutherford (Ernest) Radioactive Transformations, first edition, ink signature "J.H.Bowman UCL 1919" to front free endpaper, endpapers spotted, original blue cloth, 1906; Radio-activity, second edition, "K. Room .42" in red ink to front free endpaper, original green cloth, Cambridge, 1905, some plates and illustrations, tables, very slightly rubbed, 8vo (3)⁂ Rutherford's ground-breaking work on radioactivity earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908; the second edition offered here, published only a year after the first, is much enlarged and revised. The first work is a collaboration of three eminent pioneers in the field explaining alpha, beta and gamma radiations: Rutherford concentrates on alpha rays, Chadwick is concerned with scattered alpha and beta particles, while Ellis reports on beta and gamma rays. James Chadwick won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1935. He and Ellis met in a German POW camp during the First World War and became friends through their shared interest in physics.

The album then continues with the procession, more behind the scenes images, etc. Included with the album is a typed letter from Ian Jacob of Broadcasting House, 28 January 1954, to C.F.G. Max-Muller, Head of Outside Broadcasts (Sound): 'I have had this album made for you to keep as a reminder of the great part your played in the broadcasting of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. It gives me much pleasure to send it to you'.
