Zenith Trans-Oceanic Model B600 radio made by Zenith Radio Company, America, ca. 1959 - 1962. In 1954, the Zenith Trans-Oceanic 600 Series went into production and featured a "slide rule" dial, a departure from the traditional dials used by its predecessors. It was produced until 1962 and was the last portable vacuum tube radio produced in the United States. This particular model is in working condition and unlike the earlier models has the Band II extended from 8MHz to 9MHz. Chasis number 6A40. Total production for the 600 series was 270,000. Deutscher Kleinempfänger DKE38 Radio, 1938-1940, Germany. The radio features a Reichsadler with swastika on the front of the radio. Developed by engineer Otto Griessing at the request of Joseph Goebbels, the Reich Minister of Propaganda of the Nazi regime with the purpose to make radio reception technology affordable to the general public. Goebbels realized the great propaganda potential of this relatively new medium and thus considered widespread availability of receivers highly important.
