Gerard Mansell CBE, British 1921-2010- Still life with apple and wooden spoon; oil on canvas, signed with initials and dated 98, 40.6x55.8cm, (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Note: Gerard Mansell was born in Paris and educated in France before moving to London in the 1930s to study at the Chelsea School of Art. In 1951 he entered the BBC and went on to become its deputy director-general. Mansell was responsible for the launch of Radio 4 in 1967 and one of the most influential figures in the shaping of the modern radio network.
ORIGINAL TEENAGE MUTANT HERO TURTLES ARTWORK; An original piece of artwork produced by CLIC (The Character Licensing Illustration Company) in the 1990's for Mirage / Grandreams productions - the company responsible for all Teenage Mutant Hero / Ninja Turtles annuals, colouring books and other literature. Each piece is offered in original condition, most within the original artists folios. Some with printers annotation to margins in pencil, others with tracing paper overlaid with notes. All are pen, ink and pastel pictures and all are bright. Some have publishing details to front, but many can be traced to the 1990 Annual, 1991 Annual, 1992 Annual, 1990 Colouring & Cutout book and various art / colouring books of the period. Including several full front cover used pictures. A unique collection. This lot being a large piece depicting the four turtles listening to a Megabass radio (too loud!) 44x32cm
Andy Warhol, American 1928-1987- "The Shadow", (F&S II.267) from Myths Portfolio, 1981; screenprint in colours with diamond dust on Lenox Museum Board, signed and numbered 55/200 in pencil, 96.5x96.5cm Note: The Shadow by Andy Warhol is a self-portrait belonging to the Myth series of ten screenprints from 1981, that exemplify Warhol's sense for the powerful motifs of his time. They portray the universal view of America's once captivating and commanding past taken from 1950's television and old Hollywood films such as Superman, Uncle Sam, The Wicked Witch, Mickey Mouse and Santa Claus. The Shadow was a fictional radio crime fighter from Warhol's childhood during the 1930's. Here, Warhol himself portrays the hero, and as he glances toward the viewer, a strong nearby light casts his profile in a long, dramatic, and darkened shadow. CONDITION REPORT: in a polished aluminium John Jones frame whole sheet visible unexamined out of the frame, appears to be stuck down centres and corners overall appears in very good original condition with no noticeable signs of defects
A Bang & Olufsen Beogram 2000 turntable, together with Beomaster programming radio and a Beocord cassette deck, together with speakers CONDITION REPORTS Wear, dirt, scuffs and scratches.
