An original film prop for the ‘The Investigator’ a six-wheeled car, designed by Reg Hill for Gerry Anderson pilot series in 1973 and manufactured by Space Models of Feltham, fitted with a Honda 50cc engine and radio controlled, 221cm long, together with a copy of the Meccano blueprint design, for the 'Investigator' CarShot in 1973, The Investigator was produced as a pilot episode for a new Gerry Anderson series that would go further than ever before in mixing live action and puppetry techniques. Gerry Anderson had previously and successfully produced Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet. This cult classic follows the exploits of a boy and a girl, John and Julie, who are miniaturised by a powerful being from another galaxy (the eponymous Investigator) and sent on a dangerous mission to stop a corrupt tycoon, Karanti, from stealing a priceless 14th century masterpiece from a church.John and Julie's characters were played by Shane Rimmer and Sylvia Anderson, the voices of Scott Tracy and Lady Penelope from the Thunderbirds series. Peter Dyneley who voiced Jeff Tracy was the voice of the 'Investigator'. The twenty-three minute pilot was shot on location in Malta for the NBC Network in America, but the radio controlled models that were made for the series were prone to radio interference and often went out of control. Unfortunately, it was one of those projects that seemed doomed to failure right from the start, and was ultimately abandoned.
