The Property of a Connoisseur, London PHILLIP WILLIAM MAY RI alias 'PHIL MAY' (BRITISH 1864-1903) William Henry Crump alias 'Harry Champion'  (1885-1942)  Pencil 16.5 x 10 cm (6 3/4 x 4 in) Harry Champion was best known as a music hall singer, comedian and composer. His best known recordings include Boiled Beef and Carrots (Collins & Murray) 1909; Enery the Eighth, I am (Murray & Weston) 1910 and Any Old Iron (Collins, Terry and Shepherd) 1911. He was born in Bethnal Green and made his stage debut in 1880 at the Royal Victoria Music Hall in Old Ford Road. He also founded a carriage business hiring horse drawn broughams which evolved into North London Coaches (W H Crump & Son). He worked throughout the 30's and appeared frequently on the radio.

Also a Chrome Hearts card holder on chain. “In the early 90s there was a big fashion to have the wallets with the big chains dangling down so I had one of those. I remember we played the Almost Christmas Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM in 1991 and I remember sitting playing and the chain got stuck in the chair! I ended up dragging the chair off a stage at the end of the set and that was pretty embarrassing! I also took the wallet chains off to make necklaces as they can unhook and later on there’s pictures of me wearing those.”
