1998 Fiat Cinquecento SXMake: Fiat Model: Cinquecento Year: 1998Mileage: 62000VIN: ZFA17000001164649Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: S838KJHTransmission: manualThe Fiat Cinquecento replaced the 126 as another in Fiat's long range of small city cars, a format the Italian manufacturer was especially adept at. This SX version, with 899cc engine, was registered in October 1998 and now has 62,719 miles showing on its odometer. Five previous registered keepers are shown on the V5C. The last MoT expired in August 2021, since when the Fiat has been stored. Included in the history folder are the MoT certificate from 2018 (which shows an anomaly on the mileage, indicating it as 74,137 miles, which the vendor believes is an input error as subsequent MoTs revert to around 62,000 miles), as well as ones from 2016 and 2019 plus a few invoices. In addition, there's the original book pack containing the owner's handbook, radio/cassette player instructions. The service book shows services up to 25,654 miles, albeit with no stamps - possibly suggesting a home service - for the last two. There is no V5C.

The current mileage showing is 77,327 miles, which is warranted by the history. The current MoT is valid until October 2022. Standard equipment included antilock brakes, electronic stability control, power seats, and dual-zone climate control, with the Avantgarde specification models adding blue-tinted glass, a black coloured grille, five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, aluminium interior trim, along with stiffer springs, thicker anti-roll bars, and a 15 mm lower ride height. 1982 Ford Capri 2.8 InjectionMake: Ford Model: Capri Injection Year: 1982Mileage: 69296VIN: WF0CXXGAECBC36054Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: XEW386XTransmission: manualThe last owner of this Ford Capri, registered in January 1982, owned it for nine years. It is described as being in 'very good condition' with notable features being the manual sunroof and its original radio with graphic equaliser. Of course, there's also the fuel-injected 2792cc V6 engine which is generally regarded as the best engine for MkIII Capris. The mileage of 69,296 miles showing on the odometer is believed to be genuine by the vendor, although it can't be warranted by the paperwork. However, the MoT information does is quite supportive of the low mileage. The history file includes the V5C, a selection of MoT certificates from 1986 to 1990, 2008, 2011 to 2012, 2014 to 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022. The present MoT is valid until March 2023. There also a £529 bill for a full service in September 2020 including a new battery and spark plugs. There's also a Haynes workshop manual. 2002 BMW 318 Ti SE CompactMake: BMW Model: 318 Ti SE Compact Year: 2002Mileage: 25254VIN: WBAAU52040KM88132Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: AE52KNPTransmission: manualThis BMW, in Japan Red with Light Beige leather interior, has come from a deceased estate and is described as being in 'good condition'. The mileage is circa 25,000 miles which is believed genuine given that the car still has original features such as the protective plastic around the spare wheel. We're told that the BMW runs and drives well, but will, at least, need new tyres as its current ones are perished from being parked up. The vehicle was last MoT-tested in 2013, with its certificate expiring in November 2014. There is minimal paperwork with the car as it has unfortunately been misplaced, including the V5C. There are, however, three old tax discs, a list of standard equipment plus optional extras, some correspondence with BMW dating from 2002 including a copy of the original sales invoice for £21,450, and some radio information. The car has only had one owner from new. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 23RD MARCH BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

In the programme, it was claimed to be the best XM left in the UK, and although the vendor doesn't claim this himself, he feels it is very original and unmolested with no significant corrosion and has never been welded. During the show, it was fully recommissioned with new cambelt, water pump, front spheres, and wheel bearing. Since then, while the car has needed no major repairs, but the vendor has carried out minor maintenance and improved the car where necessary, including replacing the four remaining spheres/accumulators and changing the LHM, getting the original radio functioning again, treating the underbody pipes, clearing the drain pipes, flushing the breather system, replacing the roof aerial base and mast, renewing a steering rack gaiter and replacing the rocker cover gasket. The vendor feels that the car is in very good working order and ready to be used, and is only selling because he has too many other classic cars and does not have enough time to use it as it deserves.

Lot 494

Beckett (Samuel) [A collection of 22 volumes of his works in translation], 16 of which with signed presentation inscriptions from the author to Barbara Bray, original wrappers or boards, 8vo, v.p., 1959-86.⁂ A superb collection of works inscribed by Beckett to Barbara Bray, a fellow translator, with whom he would maintain one of the longest and closest relationships of his life. Bray (1924-2010) first met Beckett in 1956 during the production of his radio play All That Fall. The two developed an immediate and strong connection based in part on their mutual passion for linguistics, their relationship would last until Beckett's death in 1989. Beckett would often use Bray as a sounding board to help develop his work and was one of the very few with whom he would discuss and share his work while in development. Bray would state that their relationship was one of equals, a claim that was backed up by those who knew the pair. The present collection includes translations into German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese, many of the volumes the first editions in their respective languages. A full list of the inscribed works is available upon request.
