KENDALL HENRY (1874-1965) British Sea Captain of the SS Montrose, instrumental in the capture of Crippen as result of Kendall's radio messages to alert Scotland Yard of Crippen attempted escape. Mountbatten states, in part, 'War on Want is doing a really wonderful job for the Gandhi Centenary Committee and I don't know what we would have done if you hadn't come along…' (27th February 1969), 'Professor Catlin is an old friend and I enclose a letter of introduction to Mr David Stinson, the Vice-President of Westminster College at Fulton, who personally made all the arrangements with me for my visit…' (30th June 1969), together with two T.Ls.S. by Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma (1924 - ) British Peeress, elder daughter of Mountbatten, each two pages, 8vo, in part, '..thank you so very much for the really wonderful evening you organized last Wednesday for the presentation of the World Humanity Awards for both my parents… Although it was decided that “Mountabatten Memorial Lecture” would indeed cover both my parents, it now does seem to me that your original alternative suggestion of “Louis and Edwina Mountabtten Memorial Lecture” is really the more appropriate name…unless we keep the name “Edwina” people may forget that the lecture is in her memory as well as in that of my father' (25th November 1980), 'I was so very interested to hear of the way the Marr-Munning Trust is supporting a memorial tribute to my mother in Tunis and…to my father in Bethany… Your idea of further establishing an annual tribute on television or radio to my parents is of course a most interesting one' (19th January 1981), also including a T.L.S. two pages, 8vo, by the Private Secretary to the Countess Mountbatten of Burma, discussing a speech, 8th December 1959, and a selection of printed ephemera and letters etc relating to the death of Louis Mountbatten and the establishing of tributes and memorials etc. G to VG, 14

A.M.Q.S., Eric Coates, on a page removed from an autograph album, n.p., 24th October 1934. In bold, dark fountain pen ink Coates has penned four bars of music which he identifies as being from the Knightsbridge March, the third movement of his orchestral work London Suite (1933), also used as the theme tune for the BBC Radio programme In Town Tonight.
