A WW2 German Army E52b-1 'Koln' Ln21000-s communications receiver, housed in a steel and aluminium case with black knobs, the top with lifting covers to reveal valves and adjustments. Designed by Telefunken, these sets were meant for short wave communications in the army and government organisations. It is thought that around 2500 were made between 1942 and the end of WW2. This piece was originally installed in a German Army radio vehicle and was used by the vendor's father from the end of the Second World War until 1983. Serial number 462647. C.1942. A home built three valve battery radio housed in a stained oak sewing box raised on square legs, the hinged lid lifting to reveal a paper Receiving Licence dated 1938 in the name E P Schofield. Edward Paget Scholfield (1877- 1967) took over the running of the Sandhall Estate after the death of his father in 1913. In 1898 he was elected a Justice of the Peace and became a County Councillor in 1916
