Handley Page H.P.42-1 Hannibal G-AAGX, An extensively flown flying scale model of this famous Imperial Airways airliner, the wood airframe covered in corrugated aluminium and fabric skin as in the original 1930 construction, the 232cm long fuselage with glazed pilots cockpit, cabin windows with curtains, port entrance door, the registration in black, Imperial Airways and Hannibal in deep blue as on the original aircraft, on strut reinforced rubber tyred main under-carriage and moveable tail wheel, the detatchable upper and lower mainplanes united by struts and fitted with engine nacelles and dummy Bristol Jupiter XI radial engines concealing the four running glow-plug model power units, with four-blade 30.5cm diameter mahogany propellers, the tail unit fins, rudders and planes wire braced, the upper centre section of the main planes with access panel for radio controls, the upper main planes with Handley Page slots, all flying control surfaces fully operational when connected to radio control unit, 437cm w/span. Some old repairs to original fabric. Historical Note - Original taxiing trials with Hannibal began in October 1930, first flight with Tom Harry England, and Cordes at the controls was made on 14.11.30 after much testing and some modification Hannibal entered service with Imperial airways in 1931. In 1939 this aircraft was based at Cairo and on 1 March 1940 after 12000hrs and 1,000,000 route miles flown she disappeared without trace over the Gulf of Oman on scheduled flight from Jask to Sharjah

(Sm.Qty.) The first mentioned is a pioneering work in the field of Ecology, and moreover the first work to use the metrical system.

THE MEDALS & DOCUMENTS OF THE INVENTOR F T M HEAL. A 1914/15 Star, British War & Victory medal, named to M2-119349 Pte T M Heal ASC. A French medal Citoyen D'Adoption de La Ville St Omer and dated Aug 7th 1928. Born in America in Rochester New York, on April 6th 1894. Coming to Britain aged 9 months, he grew up a 'True Brit'. During his life he served as an ammunition lorry driver during the Gt War. Later he was a Radio Engineer, Motor and Agricultural Engineer, Inventor and a Bee Keeper. He was also a staunch and lifelong Royal British Legion also American Legion supporter. Among others he invented a device for converting old cars into mowing machines, displaying and selling at The Bath & West Show among others. A Bee Keeper for over 50 years, also a keen member of the Archaeological Society etc. With the group are copies of his invention in 1930 of motorised mowing, using a converted £5 car. A newspaper report of the local farmer Thos Heal's invention, freeing up two Cart horses and doing the job in half the time! A copy of Tractor magazine with an article on Tom Heal, from 2010 are with the paperwork, photographs etc in this lot.

A LARGE AND RARE CHINESE LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA, 14TH CENTURY Seated in dhyanasana with both arms raised, adorned with elaborate jewellery and a headdress, a shawl draped across the shoulders, the face framed by elongated earlobes, with a serene expression and downcast eyes, 50.7cm. Cf. Sotheby's, Paris, 10th June 2015, lot 189 for an almost identical figure. 1/4 scale scratch built Windermere steam launch titled "The Bat", to measure 60 inches long with a 14 inch beam, fitted with twin cylinder marine steam engine with slide valves, powered by a 5 inch across vertical commission made boiler, gas fired example with 3 inch ceramic burner, water levels controlled by a sight glass sensor, fitted with radio control for rudder, complete with forward and reverse speed control, supplied with an out of date pressure certificate from Stuart Davidson in 2000, and also supplied with additional notes from the vendor discussing the operation, no transmitter included, presented on a wooden boat stand for display
