Low-mileage, 2-litre Laser recently emerged from long-term storage and rarely found in such original condition.Capri production mainly finished in 1984 with only RHD, Laser-spec vehicles available from this pointIntroduced in November 1984, the special-edition Capri Laser featured a six-gauge dashboard, tinted glass, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, leather-trimmed gear lever/steering wheel, body-coloured grille/door mirrors, RS alloys, unique graphics, black-painted bumpers and Truro cloth upholsteryThis 2-litre car (formerly BAZ 99) is finished in Nimbus Grey with a Grey Laser interiorWe understand that the car was laid up around five years ago and returned to the road this year. The last MOT was in 2015The odometer indicates 20,335 miles which our vendor believes to be correctRecently emerged from long-term hibernation and rarely found in such original conditionOffered at No Reserve, this lovely low-mileage Laser would be a great addition to any collection of rare FordsFrom November 1984 onwards, the Capri was sold in the UK exclusively, with only right hand drive cars being built from that date. Ford were naturally keen to sell their remaining stock, so the normally-aspirated 1.6 and 2.0-litre variants were rebranded with a new trim level – "Laser" – which featured a six-gauge dashboard, tinted glass, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, leather-trimmed gear lever/steering wheel, body-coloured grille/door mirrors, RS alloys, unique graphics, black-painted bumpers and Truro cloth upholstery. This very smart 2-litre example is finished In Nimbus Grey with a Grey Laser interior. It appears to be completely standard, still fitted with its original Ford radio and is in excellent condition both inside and out. We understand that it was laid-up around five years ago and prior to that, judging by the number of photos online at car shows (registered BAZ 99 at the time), and the very low mileage, we assume it was owned by a Capri enthusiast who used it as a show car taking immense pride in its condition. The current indicated mileage is 20,335 which appears to be corroborated by the MOT history;2003 16,578 miles2004 16,5962005 16,6032007 16,707   All by Kingswinford Garage2008 16,899   West Bromwich now wearing BAZ 992009 17,210   Bilston2010 17,710   Bilston2011 18,083   Bilston2012 18,493   Bilston2013 18,890   Bilston2014 19,403   Bilston2015 19,639   BilstonA new MOT was issued at 20,335 miles on 21/7/2021 and the car is fully prepared and ready for sale. Lot 339

A special opportunity to acquire this remarkable one-off designed by Ant Anstead and his team at Dowsetts Classic Cars.Dowsetts Classic Car Company is the new trading name of the company formerly known as Evanta whose superbly built creations we have been privileged to offer in the pastThe Comet is built around a steel spaceframe chassis which is clothed in GRP reinforced with Kevlar to create a shell that is strong yet lightIts unique looks echo the classic lines of sports racers from the fifties and early sixties without becoming a pastiche of any one modelThey are entirely bespoke enabling potential owners to create exactly what they wantComet 02, on offer from its first owner, is powered by a General Motors LS3 V8, coupled to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differentialIt's finished in Porsche Crayon Grey, not an obvious choice for an evocative 6-litre fifties-style sports car but in execution, truly successfulIt sits on a set of alloy wheels that, like everything else about this remarkable car, are Dowsetts-designed and unique in the proper sense of the wordClad in red quilted leather, the car's interior reflects this same design philosophy and every nook and cranny appears to have been thought about and created to be special, and it is. Full harnesses, white-faced dials, a Moto-Lita wheel, turned aluminium stubby short-throw gear lever, satin-finished stainless details and embossed leather. Really impressiveWhilst Ant was naturally focussed on developing the car's dynamics, handling and road-holding etc., our vendor planned on using the car regularly so spec'd it with air-conditioning, Sat-Nav, a radio and a reversing-camera Having covered only 2,500 miles, a recent back injury means that our vendor sadly must now part with '02It's very sensibly guided and is now available at around half its build costHere at Silverstone Auctions we are pleased to have been able to help Ant Anstead and his passionate team at Evanta bring some of their fabulous fifties and sixties Aston Martin re-creations to the market. Evanta has recently morphed into the Dowsetts Classic Car Company and now stands proudly on its own design ethos building unique sports and GT cars, whilst still capturing the essence of the 1950s and ‘60s.Their current project is the Comet which, like other Dowsett models, is built around a bespoke steel spaceframe chassis. This is then clothed in GRP reinforced with Kevlar to create a shell which is strong yet light and, importantly, is suitable for limited production runs where tooling might otherwise be prohibitive. That said, it’s not a simple process, taking over 50 different mould tools to make the panels for a single Comet. The car’s shape is unique, in the proper sense of the word, but most viewers familiar with classic cars will identify references and styling cues that could well have come from legendary sports cars of the period, however, that was not intentional. Dowsetts’ Darren Collins comments “There are bound to be certain similarities. If you’re taking inspiration from a particular era, there are only so many ways in which it can be done. We’ve created something new, but there are clear nods to the era it evokes.” The second production car, Comet 02, on offer here from its first owner, is powered by a General Motors LS3 V8, coupled to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. It's finished in Porsche Crayon Grey, not an obvious choice for an evocative 6-litre fifties-style sports car but in execution, truly successful and it sits on a set of alloy wheels that, like everything else about this remarkable car, are Dowsetts-designed. Clad in red quilted leather, the car's interior reflects this same design philosophy and every nook and cranny appears to have been thought about and created to be special, and it is. Full harnesses, white-faced dials, a Moto-Lita wheel, turned aluminium stubby short-throw gear lever, satin-finished stainless details and embossed leather. These cars are totally bespoke and whilst one owner may prefer a hard-edged Mille Miglia-style sports racer with no creature comforts, the buyer of ‘02’ planned on using the car regularly so spec'd it with air-conditioning, Sat-Nav, a radio and a reversing-camera. He was only able to enjoy some 2,500 miles in 02 before a recent back injury makes driving it really difficult. He has asked us to include a few words.“As I explained I got involved with Ant Anstead over four years ago and on visiting his workshop spotted the Barchetta (open top early version of the Comet) and fell in love with it. Ant had by then started work on the Comet and I agreed to buy number two – the first having already been purchased off plan by another client and is now in America with Ant who is trying to fit an electric motor in it so mine is still the only road going Comet in the world! The car is basically the dream car of Ant, mixing an Aston Martin front with a Ferrari back and some Lotus in the middle. Constructed much like the original AC Cobras squeezing a huge 6.2-litre Chevy engine into a bespoke, hand-built lightweight body. I spent many happy hours up at the workshop watching the car come together and worked with Ant and his team to specify some of the “luxury” additions not previously planned for the car (air conditioning, radio, sat.nav. and reverse camera) Ant looking to focus more on the performance and the track cred aspects of the car which I am pleased to say he achieved and then some! I have some personal photos of the build process for anyone interested and Dowsetts can provide more.I took delivery of the car after it had finished full road testing back in December 2018 but shortly after I injured my back requiring surgery. My back is now okay but I find the Comet too low and with a fixed seat I just cannot get comfortable and so have come to the difficult and sad decision to sell the car and let someone else enjoy it.”The Comet will be available for viewing prior to our NEC sale and we strongly urge interested parties to come and have a close look at this remarkable motor car.Click here for more details and images

An original ex-Metropolitan Police Daimler Dart, a rare survivor and restored to a Concours standard.550 CLU is one of only 26 Daimler Darts supplied to the Metropolitan PoliceIt’s had a full nut and bolt restoration to Concours standards and is a multi-award winnerFull photographic details of the restoration are contained in the history fileThe die cast 1/43rd scale model made by Oxford is of this actual car and number plateSupplied with the car is an original Owners' Handbook, Supplement of Accessories, period photographs of the car in service, newspaper clips, V5C and old MOTs and tax discs etcThis Daimler is a must for any collector/investor and needs to be viewed to fully appreciate the finish and detail that has gone into its fastidious restoration. An unusual departure for a firm more noted for its stately limousines, the SP250 sports car was Daimler's final fling before its acquisition by Jaguar. Aimed at the North American market and launched in 1959, the SP250 (originally entitled Dart) employed a separate ladder-type chassis on which sat controversially-styled fibreglass coachwork manufactured by Daimler themselves. Four-wheel disc brakes were an unusual feature at the time but unquestionably the car's biggest virtue was its magnificent 2.5-litre V8 engine. An outstandingly flexible unit, the smaller of Daimler's two Edward Turner designed V8s produced 140bhp, an output good enough to propel the SP250 to a top speed of 125mph. In keeping with the demands of its intended market, automatic transmission was available as an option. In the late 1950s, the Metropolitan Police had a major problem with, what were called, 'café racers'. Groups of youths on motorbikes would gather together at a local café, put a record on the jukebox and then race their bikes along a set course getting back to the café before the record had stopped playing. Accidents occurred and in an attempt to put a stop to the practice, the Met’s proposal was to have a fast car that could actually catch the bikers. The existing fleet of Wolseley saloons was not up to the task so they looked instead at sports cars. The Daimler SP250 Dart was the answer! This had a 2.5-litre lightweight V8 engine and was capable of 125 mph and 0-60 in 10 seconds, which for 1959 was remarkable. The Met bought 26 Darts between 1961 and 1964 and soon got them into service to be used as high-speed pursuit cars based at separate Traffic Garages situated over the London area. The results were impressive with many speeding bikers being caught and the number of fatal road accidents dropped. Unlike today, the idea then was that you see a Police car and thereby slow down...no stealth tactics for these boys.Borg-Warner Model 8 3-speed automatic cars destined for Police use were modified by Daimler with the fitting of a handle in the centre of the dashboard which, when pulled, locks the gearbox into second gear allowing a speed range from zero to 85 mph in a single gear. The gearbox normally runs in two gears only, with a ‘low’ ratio for manual selection if required and the slightly higher gearing resulted in an increased top speed compared to manual gearbox cars. The Metropolitan Police found this to be better for town work and high speed chases, and it was also found to be more economical, avoiding the clutch wear that a manual car would develop with usage between 18 and 24 hours a day.Traffic police in Bristol, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester, Southend and Surrey also used the SP250 for speed enforcement, as did police forces in Australia and New Zealand. After the opening of the first section of the M1 in 1959, the Bedfordshire police used the SP250 for motorway patrol prior to the arrival of the 70mph limit in 1965.The sparkling example on offer here, 550 CLU, was registered with the Metropolitan Police on 1st June 1961 as Fleet Number 240T. It bears Engine No.96223, Chassis No.102820 and was fitted with the optional Borg-Warner DG. Automatic gearbox, an AT Head Calibrated Speedometer and Pye Radio equipmentThe Met disposed of 550 CLU on 30th August 1967, having been driven 97,325 miles in less than five years and it was sold on to a Mr Killamsy of 2 Winter Street, London SW11. (Copy record in file). It was subsequently purchased by Claude Kearley, President of the Daimler SP250 Owners Club (2007-2009) who commenced a photo-documented restoration including engine, gearbox and drive train to Concours standards. It became our vendor’s property in 2016 and has been much enjoyed ever since, taking part in all sorts of events and is a multi-award winner including 2nd place in the 2017 East Coast Run and 1st Place, Sledmere 2017. It’s been an NEC exhibit three years running and was to be an entrant in Zoute Concours d ’Elegance prior to the COVID lockdown. When ‘Oxford Diecast’ chose to model a Police SP250 for their 1/43 scale range, 550 CLU was the chosen car.Supplied with the car are its V5C and previous ownership docs, a copy of the Met Historic Fleet Disposal Records, period copy photographs of actual use when in service, press cuttings, photos of surviving drivers (at 2013), MOTs, Owners’ Manual, Accessories Manual and more. This Daimler is a must for any collector/investor and needs to be viewed to fully appreciate the finish and detail that has gone into its fastidious restoration.Obviously this immaculate Dart can be enjoyed in much the same way that we all enjoy our classic cars but, in addition, it’s regularly in demand for meets and shows and would be welcome at events run by the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club, the Daimler Dart Owners Club, the Police Vehicle Club and naturally local County Shows and Village Fetes. If that’s what you have in mind, this rare sixties classic could keep you busy for the rest of your days.SpecificationMake: DAIMLERModel: SP250 (DART)Year: 1960Chassis Number: 102820Registration Number: 550 CLUTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 96223 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 74590 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A left-hand drive, German-market, 996 GT3 with only 74,105km from new.On offer from private ownership, an homage to the iconic livery of the German PolizeiIt's basically a standard 996 GT3 with the graphics and lights etc. fitted by its owner355bhp, 3.6-litre engine, communicative chassis, superb brakes, perfect control weighting, precise steeringThe famous Polizei cars were modelled by Corgi Toys and Scalextric74,105km from new. Graphics easily removable leaving a very attractive, low mileage GT3Intended primarily for competition, although still fully road legal, the Porsche 911 GT3 can trace its ancestry all the way back through a succession of high-performance models to the legendary 911 Carrera RS of 1973. The car takes its name from the FIA's GT3 category of production sports car racing and has been produced in a variety of versions since its introduction in 1999 when the GT3 badges were applied to the Type 996 iteration of the perennial 911.The 3.6-litre flat-six engine, though, departed from mainstream Type 996 practice by virtue of its water-cooled cylinders, leaving only the heads cooled by air. Called the 'Metzger' engine after its designer, Hans Metzger, this unit was closely related to that of the Porsche 962 'Sports Prototypes' and the 911 GT1 racer. In the GT3 it produced 355bhp, 59 horsepower more than in the standard 996, which was delivered to the wheels through a strengthened gearbox boasting interchangeable ratios. To make the GT3 fit for circuit use, the brakes, suspension, and wheels were uprated to cope with the substantial increase in performance, whilst aerodynamic downforce was enhanced by a larger front air dam and a distinctive rear spoiler. Weight reduction extended to the removal of the rear seats and most of the sound deadening, rear speakers, sunroof, and air conditioning, though the latter could be ordered as an option, as could a CD/radio. In its original Type 996 incarnation, as seen here, the 911 GT3 was produced up to 2006.Offered from private ownership is this homage to the iconic livery of the German Polizei. Police forces around Europe have famously used performance cars as a way of raising the profile and effectiveness of policing public roads and the Germans were no exception, in fact, their distinctive livery became a 'brand' with both Scalextric and Corgi producing models which sold throughout Europe. This particular, left-hand drive, 996 GT3 was purchased privately and graphics applied together with lights to emulate the famous police 911s. What began as just a bit of fun actually became a tool for a UK Police Force to promote young driver awareness courtesy of the owner at the time. This GT3 has travelled just 74,105km and, should drawing attention to yourself not be 'your thing', then the graphics and lights can easily be removed and the car returned to a very attractive, low mileage Porsche GT3.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2000Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99ZY5691356Registration Number: V313 TAWEngine Number: 63Y01813Click here for more details and images

An early RS500 showing just 23,222 miles from new with a detailed history file and recent Paul Linfoot report.Tickford build sheets confirm this car as #215 out of 500 and first registered on the 3rd August 1987The detailed history file includes well stamped service book, numerous MOTs, historical invoices. There are two condition reports from 1991 and 2021Compiled by noted RS 500 expert Paul Linfoot, the 2021 condition report states the boost gauge is present and only fitted to early carsIt also notes that the mileage of 23,222 (atoc) is consistent with the interior, radio, gear knob and original exhaust systemThe car was professionally painted in 2015 and the panels are straight with no signs of rust according to the report which is available pre-auction via emailThe report is also complimentary of the shut lines as we note that the car sustained light damage to the front in its early life and is registered as an insurance loss, damaged and repairedWe welcome any inspection of this beautiful car and its impressive leather bound history file. The Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 was announced in July 1987 and had a mechanically uprated Cosworth engine (more similar to the one to be used in competition), with power boosted to 224bhp, upgraded brakes, modified bodywork and the cachet of being hand-assembled. Just 500 three-door Sierra Cosworths were sent to Aston Martin Tickford for conversion to the RS500, and copy build sheets confirm that this car was number 215.First registered on the 3rd August 1987 as “E321 EPD” the well stamped service book supplied in the incredibly detailed history file shows periodic services consistent with incremental mileage increases and corresponds to the historical MOTs. A condition report dated 31st October 1991 written by Boddington, Mee Consulting Automotive Engineers of Nottingham shows the odometer reading as 2,972 miles and notes that there is slight damage to the N/S/F corner front bumper mounting and “no sign of major accident damage”. With no other reference in the history file to any further accident damage it appears that the 1991 report accounts for why the car appears on some online car history check websites as “repaired and inspected after being previously written off”. It would also be consistent with the low values of the model in the early 1990s and why the insurance loss adjuster may have been stricter with light damage. The car is offered from a small Ford collection and upon inspection we noted that the ECU mounted behind the “RS” panel on the dashboard appears to be the original with the Morrelli stickers covering the screw holes free of tampering. The interior is wholly consistent of a car of this mileage and the rear parcel shelf is “bowed”, a common RS500 characteristic, further confirms the interior’s originality and the first aid kit can be found in the usual spot. The car was professionally repainted in 2015 and presents well today retaining a deep gloss shine. The engine bay was attended to at the same time by respected RS specialist Paul Linfoot who replaced the wing sealer to the replacement wing(s) and fitted new brackets, bolts and screws where appropriate.Paul Linfoot compiled a report on the 17th October 2021, copies of which can be emailed to interested parties pre-auction, and we have, with Paul’s permission, reproduced some excerpts here, which of course can be read in context within the full written report:“The car carries all its correct RS500 unique parts that were fitted during its conversion. The original RS500 bumpers/spoilers and splitters are all in very good condition and fit correctly.”“The interior is in very good condition and consistent with the car's low miles of 23,222, with its original Ford stereo and amplifier fitted and working. The seats and door cards are all correct and in good condition. The original leather gear knob is also present and in good condition, these are often replaced as they didn't wear very well.”“The exterior of the car presents very well, its shut lines are all how they should be and the panels are straight and rust free…The correct pin stripe and (RS500) badge is proudly on display on the front wings and rear tailgate.”“The underside looks original and untouched but solid and again the correct RS500 rear beam sits in place along with an original exhaust system that are usually replaced in favour of a modern stainless steel system.”In relation to the car’s insurance registry status Paul said “It is my opinion that on older cars this is less important and any vehicle should be valued on its present overall condition rather than what may have happened while the car’s value was at its lowest.”We conclude that this car, whilst estimated to reflect it’s damaged-repaired status, should be judged on its current condition, superb history and low mileage. SpecificationMake: FORDModel: SIERRA RS 500Year: 1987Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGG38672Registration Number: E321 EPDTransmission: ManualEngine Number: GG38672 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 23500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images

A rare, UK-supplied, right-hand drive example of Porsche's legendary 356C.A rare UK-supplied, right-hand drive example of the legendary 356CBuilt on the 20th of January 1965 and UK-registered on the 1st of April 1965Originally finished in Bali Blue with black leather and registered to AFN Ltd. as a demonstratorOptioned from new with an OAT gauge, oil pressure gauge, St Christopher medallion, radio and speakers, lap seat-belts, Hella fog lights and headrestsThe second owner was a Mr H J Garland who owned the car right through until 2019, using it frequently up until 1980 when it was dry storedEngine sent to Germany for a rebuild at this time. Only around 400 miles sinceRepainted Orange and then latterly treated to a coat of Ford Anchor BluePurchased by our vendor in 2019 and gently recommissioned; fuel system, brakes, electrics, ignition and all fluids Supplied with a Porsche CoA and the original number plate will remain on the vehicleWidely acknowledged as Porsche's first venture into motor manufacturing, the 356 was a lightweight and nimble rear engined, rear-wheel-drive, two-door sporting car available in hardtop coupé and open configurations. Over a 15-year production period, the 356 evolved from an aluminium bodied coupé with an 1100cc air-cooled flat-four engine, to a proper sports car with a 2,000cc four-cam Carrera engine producing 130 bhp.At first glance, the 356C, introduced in mid-1963, differed little from the prior 356B since it continued to use the T-6 body type which had arrived in 1962. Porsche, however, brought the 356 concept to its zenith with the 356C, which was available in coupe and cabriolet form. The new 356 also benefited from the addition of Dunlop four-wheel disc brakes as standard, a higher-lift camshaft for the 1600cc engine, new flat-face hubcaps, and deeper bucket seats. These seats came courtesy of Porsche's acquisition of Reutter, which included the future Recaro subsidiary. 356 production peaked at 14,151 cars in 1964 which was the first year the new 911 model went on the market. Porsche did, however, continue to sell the 356C in North America through to the end of 1965. In 2004 the US magazine 'Sports Car International' named the 356C number ten on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s. Today the Porsche 356 is a well-regarded collector's car that has stood the test of time and worldwide, thousands of 356 owners maintain the tradition, preserving their cars and driving them regularly. This particular car, MMU 95C, is a rare example indeed being a UK-supplied, right-hand drive car manufactured on the 20th of January 1st 1965 and registered on the 1st of April 1965. It was originally finished in Bali Blue with a Black leather interior and registered to AFN Ltd. as a demonstrator, and there is a sales record from AFN confirming the details. Chassis 131867 / Engine P.813597 / Ignition/door key K302 / Gear lock Key FE63 and Glove Box Key GZ365. The AFN stock number was 4.027.135 with registration number MMU 95C. The car was optioned from new with an outside air temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, St Christopher medallion on the glove box, radio and speakers, lap seat-belts, Hella fog lights and head rests. The second owner was a Mr H J Garland who owned the car right through until his passing in 2019 and used it frequently up until 1980 when it was stored on blocks but regularly had the engine turned over. Mr Garland also decided to have the engine rebuilt at around the same time and this was sent off to Germany to be done and the car has only covered 400 odd miles since it was returned and refitted. He had the car painted Orange during his ownership and then latterly back to Ford Anchor Blue, an attractive hue which it still displays today. There are details within the file of work carried out by AFN, relating to services and some body repairs, (front near side wing ) the requirement for which is detailed in a book “From Chain Drive to Turbocharger, The AFN Story” by Dennis Jenkinson, page 176 at which point the Porsche was being driven by John Aldington of AFN when the accident occurred.Since our vendor has owned the car (2019) the 356 has been totally recommissioned to including the whole fuel system, brakes all refurbished with calipers and pads being replaced and all fluids changed . Electrically the car has been gone through making sure all items work and the ignition system has been overhauled at the same time. It's supplied with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the original number plate will remain on the vehicle. This little Porsche has lived a life. 55 years with its second owner, a couple of colour changes and numerous adventures during the Sixties and Seventies, however, gently recommissioned and with a fresh MOT it's now ready to live some more..SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 356CYear: 1965Chassis Number: 131867Registration Number: MMU 95CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 8135971Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 50672 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Only 4,600 miles from new, impeccable service history, recent health check and immaculate throughout.Presenting superbly in Carrara (marble) White with a black interior and lightweight bucket seatsProducing some 370bhp from its 3.8-litre flat sixShort-shift, 6-speed manual gearbox, mechanical LSD, Porsche Torque Vectoring systemJust 4,600 miles only from new and two previous keepersOriginally supplied by Porsche Centre Aberdeen who took care of the first service in December 2017 at 1,412 milesSecond service by Porsche Centre Solihull in August of this year at 4,553 miles (£1,399). At the same time the car had a full health check and passed with flying coloursSupplied with a complete book pack and stamped service bookThe Boxster Spyder is the most extreme version of Porsche’s 981 Boxster, lighter by 30kg, longer by ten millimetres and lower by 11mm when compared with a Boxster GTS. The front end is more aggressive in its design and there are distinctive streamlined humps behind the roll-over hoops (a tribute to the 718 Spyder of the 1960s). Suspension is the 20mm lower, passive Sports set-up that is also a no-cost option on the Boxster GTS. There is a Sport Chrono package as standard, the most notable benefit of which is the provision of dynamic transmission mounts. On the rear axle is a mechanical LSD (22 per cent locking under power and 27 per cent on the overrun), which is part of the Porsche Torque Vectoring system. The Spyder’s 3.8-litre engine is a mildly detuned version of the one found in the Cayman GT4 and the 991 Carrera S. Power is 45bhp up on a Boxster GTS and torque is up a healthy 37lb ft, taking the total to 310lb ft. The steering rack is slightly quicker (taken from the 911 Turbo) and the steering wheel is 360mm in diameter, like the GT4 and GT3 RS. Finally, the look is not forgotten with the addition of a very elegant but sporty one-piece double-dented rear hood. This jaw-dropping example has covered a mere 4,600 miles from new and has had just two former keepers with our vendor having the car since July last year and only looking to move it on due to problems with personal mobility. Originally supplied by Porsche Centre Aberdeen who took care of the first service in December 2017 at 1,412 miles with the next service being completed by Porsche Centre Solihull in August of this year at 4,553 miles all receipted for £1,399 At the same time the car had a full health check and passed with flying colours.Finished in Carrara (not Carrera) White with a Black interior, this fabulous 981 Spyder comes with a full Porsche presentation pack including Service Book, Owners Handbook, Communication Management Book and a Radio Equipment reference leaflet. Being the later Spyder, it has the improved convertible top which takes but a very short while to drop down as opposed to the original jigsaw puzzle of the earlier cars. With the 981 benefitting from the 911's 6-cylinder powerplant, performance is on a whole different level making it a true drivers' car capable of speeds up to 180 mph. This may be one of the best examples available on offer currently and with just 4,600 miles from new, very collectable. An amazingly original, long-wheelbase Jaguar XJ12 Series 2 with just 9,500 miles from new and an impeccable history.Quite possibly the lowest mileage, most original XJ12 LWB Series 2 example available anywhereJust 9,500 miles from new, supported by an extensive service history, previous MOT Certificates, plus detailed hand-written notesAlways privately owned by genuine Jaguar enthusiasts, with known continuity of ownershipAccompanied by its original Bill of Sale, period invoices, handbooks, service book, and maintenance charts, all in the correct, undamaged Jaguar walletThe ultimate example in the model range with its silky smooth 5.3-litre V12, it was as fast as it was stylishOne of the few and desirable carburettor examples made during the first year of Series 2 productionElegantly finished in Dark Blue with Dark Blue leather, this XJ is the epitome of 1970s luxury motoringThe long wheelbase Jaguar XJ12: the rare Executive model and the reserve of CEOs and cabinet ministersBy the mid-to-late 1960s, competition for the lucrative luxury car market was led by Jaguar with the successful Mk10, Mk2, S-Type and 420 saloons. However, it had been clear for some time that if Jaguar were to remain at the top of this sector into the 1970s and beyond there was a pressing need to develop just one saloon to replace all of the cars in the existing range. To succeed the new car would need to be very special indeed. It was - the all-new XJ range made its debut in 1968 at London’s Earls Court Motor Show. The car was an immediate success with the public overwhelmed by this new large luxury Jaguar. However, perhaps of greater importance, was the attention from the motoring press. It is doubtful that any car had ever received such unqualified praise from the press as the XJ did.So overwhelmed by the XJ range were the motoring press that Jaguar themselves produced a 21-page booklet which they called ‘Praise indeed’ which contained almost 100 thoroughly positive press comments. Almost overnight from its launch the XJ became and remained until production ended, the ‘must have’ luxury car.1973 saw the introduction of the improved Series 2 range, luxuriously appointed and with a ride quality unequalled in its day, it’s no wonder that it won the accolade ‘The Best Car in the World’. The new model had more power, featured a raised front bumper and shallower grill, the interior was redesigned, the ventilation improved, and the car benefited from more rear leg room.By the mid-1970s, the most popular XJ was the 4.2 version with automatic gear box. The ultimate model though was the silky-smooth, exceptionally quick and quiet to drive XJ12 with its 5.3-litre engine.Jaguar enthusiasts agree, that to find an XJ12 which is totally period-correct in original condition with exceptionally low mileage, is very rare indeed. Due to the 70s fuel crisis, most of them were company-owned and covered big mileages. However, here we have one. The car presented here, quite astonishingly, has covered just 9,500 miles from new, with lots of supporting evidence and clear continuity of ownership, this is a collector’s dream. On the 14th September 1974, the first owner of ‘LFM 405N’ travelled the 10 or so miles from his home to ‘James Winsor & Son’, Jaguar dealers on Nottingham Road in Mansfield, to collect this XJ12 that he had specially ordered in Dark Blue with Dark Blue trim. The original Bill of Sale (present in the history file) shows that the car was supplied with Tinted Glass and a Radiomobile 108 SR Radio/8 Track player, which remains in place today, and front fog and spotlights. A supplementary invoice details Jaguar chrome side trims being supplied and fitted. Period hand-written details also explain that Jaguar chrome-plated wheels, door mirrors (period Paddy Hopkirk types), four door-mounted speakers, an electric aerial, and underseal/early cavity rust-proofing were to be added.LFM 405N was first registered the day before its collection, the 13th September 1974, with the owner’s cherished registration number.Servicing was carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and much of it done by the supplying dealer, as illustrated by invoices in the history file. Attached to some copies of those invoices are very neat and precise handwritten instructions to the garage, plus further clarity about what work had been carried out. The first owner went on to keep his beloved XJ12 for over 30 years. The last MOT that he had carried out in 2004 shows that the car had covered just 3,998 since new. All of the previous MOTs are also in the file, many carried out by the supplying dealer, and help verify the ultra-low mileageIn May 2005, LFM 405N was acquired by its second owner, a Jaguar enthusiast. Although registered to an address in Birmingham, shortly after it was acquired it was shipped to Southern Ireland to be added to a car collection. In 2006, LFM 405N, still with the first owner’s cherished registration number, was driven to Enniskillen in Northern Ireland to acquire a UK test certificate to enable it to remain on its UK plates. The mileage towards the end of 2006 recorded on that test certificate had risen to just 5,614.In 2011, LFM 405N returned to the mainland, still on its private plate, and an MOT in the file records the mileage at 7,691. In 2013 and with 7,766 miles, it was acquired from one of the country's leading prestige car dealers, by its third owner and, around this time, the current registration number was issued. The third owner, in his mid-sixties when he bought the car, is an extremely well-respected Hong Kong-based architect/interior designer, who the Chinese press call ‘Hong Kong's Father of interior design'. LFM 405N was used as his car on the rare occasions that he was in the UK working on some of London most prestigious design projects. When it was not in use, it was laid up under covers in private London garaging and in the care of the owner’s UK representative. During his 5-year ownership, the XJ12 covered just a further 1,500 miles or so before the owner now in his seventies returned to Hong Kong on a more permanent basis. The last owner of LFM 405N only sold it as he had the opportunity to purchase a Series 2 Coupé, that being his dream car for a number of years. Our vendor now, also an avid Jaguar collector, is sad to part with such a special car which has form part of his eclectic collection, however, the realisation that ‘you can’t keep them all’ affects even the most hardened collectors.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XJ12L LWB SERIES 2 AUTOMATICYear: 1974Chassis Number: 2R3312BWRegistration Number: LFM 405NTransmission: Automatic Engine Number: 7P.10318-SA Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 9500 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images
