A retro 1950's / 1960's Blaupunkt Barcelona radiogram. Having a four speed Garrard record deck and radio. The Blue Spot radiogram was considered the best by the Caribbean community who moved to Britain in the 1950s and 1960s. The radio and record player provided a means of entertainment in the home, away from the racism often encountered in public bars and clubs. The ' Barcelona ' model has a radio and record player with integrated drinks cabinet beneath for entertaining. It was capable of receiving radio signals from as far away as the Caribbean. OFFICE WHO INTERROGATED TOJO. Opening of the Burma Road cover signed by Major L Ralli who was a member of the special force preparing for Wingates Chindits operation behind enemy lines in 1944. He was on Wingates staff and took an active part in organising communications for Operation Thursday, to rescue the sick and injured from behind enemy lines. At the end of the Wingate campaign he was transferred to Mountbattens HQ and served with Peter Fleming in D Division, this was a top secret operation feeding false information to the enemy, relying on captured spies and their radio sets which were then used to send false information, Ralli was responsible for all the communication including one link between Calcutta and German intelligence HQ in Berlin. After the Japanese surrender he was sent to Tokyo on a counter intelligence mission which involved interrogating many of the top Japanese, including Prime Minister Tojo and the head of the Japanese secret police. German SOE Captured Commemorative Desk Ornament cast alloy gold painted eagle and swastika mounted on a black and white marble base. The base painted with 'SOE Wings, Sept 3rd 1939-May 8th 1945 and Altengrabow Germany April 25th 1945'. Minor paint chips and base damage. Liberated item by Capt G D Hill RE and SOE. Lt G D Hill was part of a team for Operation Violet, tasked to obtain information from Stalag XIA at Altengrabow in German held No Man Land between Magdeburg and Berlin holding up to 150,000 allied POW's. Parachuted in 25th April 1945 with a team of 3. Major P Worral and Cpl RHE Jones. They were all captured and by coincidence ended up in the POW camp which they had been sent to investigate By the 1st May Major Worrall was in charge of the camp and using the SOE radio to make contact with the Allied Forces. Complete transcript of the raid included in the lot.
