Saint Julien, Bordeaux, France. 2eme Cru Classe. 17/20 2002 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2012 to 2024 Deep crimson with a little evolution at the rim. Meaty, concentrated nose. Uncompromisingly dry but the tannins are not too painful. Just starting to come round and really not that different from this wine in a more successful vintage. But strictly for classicists. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 15-Mar-2012. Purchased from Corney and Barrow upon commercial release and delivered to a temperature controlled London cellar where it has remained until removal by the BidforWine team in advance of this sale. Each lot is illustrated with a copy of the redacted sales invoice for that case. Duty and VAT has been paid on all wines. Date invoiced: May 2003- En Primeur.
Sauternes, Bordeaux, France. 1er Cru Classe. 18/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2014 to 2040 Beautiful amber colour and great gravitas as well as sweetness. Already very enjoyable but obviously with a long way to go. Complex already. Barley sugar at its best. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 28-Apr-2018. Date acquired: 28th June 2002 - En Primeur.
Saint Julien, Bordeaux, France. 2eme Cru Classe. 17/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2010 to 2024 Dark crimson. Relatively light and aromatic. Polished. Quite different texture to the Leoville 2001s. Much lighter and smoother. Quite evolved with attractive stoniness on the end. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 1-Mar-2012. Date invoiced: 13th June 2002 - En Primeur.
Sauternes, Bordeaux, France. 1er Cru Classe Superieur. 18/20 1997 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2006 to 2028 Pungent, rich and very fine. Exciting. Great stuff. Long and rich. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 20-Jun-2008. Date invoiced 25th June 2002.
Sauternes, Bordeaux, France. 1er Cru Classe Superieur. Banded OWC. 19/20 2003 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2015 to 2035 More complexity on the nose than the Rieussec. Marzipan. Richness. Citrus. Nerve. Really deep flavours with good acidity. Tense. Yes! Jancis Robinson Tasted: 18-Mar-2008. Ex-chateau bottle tasted at the property. The 2003 Yquem was picked from 17th September after an explosion of botrytis until 26th September in one trie. It has a textbook, limpid silvery/golden hue. The nose is very seductive with lifted scents of dried honey, almond, hazelnut and just a faint hint of creme caramel all with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a refined opening. That trait of creme caramel is there loitering like a truant schoolboy in the background, but then it moves into the mid-palate and really shows its class: wonderful delineation and poise, perfect acidity and an almost pixilated finish. There is just a touch of alcohol on the aftertaste although you have to have a very sensitive palate to feel it. This is a lovely Yquem, though I would not place it within the first tier. Drink now-2030+ Tasted April 2013. Neal Martin RobertParker.com Jun 2013. Purchased from Corney and Barrow upon commercial release and delivered to a temperature controlled London cellar where it has remained until removal by the BidforWine team in advance of this sale. Each lot is illustrated with a copy of the redacted sales invoice and for that case. Duty and VAT has been paid on all wines. Date invoiced: 30th June 2004 - En Primeur.
Margaux, Bordeaux, France. 3eme Cru Classe. 17.5/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2012 to 2028 Really quite rich, almost chocolatey. Lovely fragrant top note reminiscent of Cabernet Franc. Really quite complex. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 1-Mar-2012. Date invoiced: 13th June 2002 - En Primeur.
Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France. 18/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2010 to 2030 Very expressive of the 'warm bricks' character. Heady and rich. Full and broad. Seductive and yet not the most refreshing. Dry finish. But lots of hedonism here. Long and reverberant. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 1-Mar-2012. Date invoiced: 13th June 2002 - En Primeur.
Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France. Grand Cru. 17/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2008 to 2018 Very sweet and fully developed with a little more edge and chew than the 2007. A long drinking window, I would have thought. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 15-Sep-2011. Date invoiced: 13th June 2002 - En Primeur.
Pomerol, Bordeaux, France. 16.5/20 2001 Vintage Jancis Robinson When to drink: 2008 to 2020 Dark crimson. Very sweet and luscious on the nose. Some freshness really helps this wine and adds life. Quite zesty and only slightly chewy. A very attractively balanced whole. Definitely a success for this property. Jancis Robinson Tasted: 10-Mar-2011. Date invoiced: 13th June 2002 - En Primeur.
