A vintage wooden Hawaiian guitar bearing a Jose Fernandez circular makers label pasted to the interior, signed by George Formby to the soundboard in black fountain pen ink and dated 1942 in his hand. Unusual in this form. Some extensive scuffing and age wear, about G Provenance: The guitar apparently previously belonged to a Sergeant L. Hopkins who used it extensively whilst serving in the Royal Air Force to entertain his fellow servicemen during World War II. The guitar was signed by Formby at one of the 72 shows he performed in whilst touring Northern Ireland in 1942, largely playing to troops and raising funds for charities
