Hopkins who used it extensively whilst serving in the Royal Air Force to entertain his fellow servicemen during World War II. CANTELLI GUIDO: (1920-1956) Italian Conductor. Vintage dark fountain pen ink signature ('Guido Cantelli') and date, 1954, in his hand on a page removed from an autograph album. Signed in fountain pen ink to the verso by Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989) Austrian Conductor. Autographs of Cantelli are rare in any form following his tragically early death at the age of 36 in an aircraft crash. VG

Neatly annotated in a small hand in pencil by the collector to the upper left corner and dated 23rd September 1959. Signed and inscribed to the verso by Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) American Conductor & Composer of Westside Story. Together with an unsigned small 4to printed programme for a performance by Callas and the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on 23rd September 1959.
