* Ambulance Service. A collection of manufacturers, press, and private photographs and postcards of ambulances and ambulance equipment, mostly c. 1970s-80s, together with a collection of mostly non-vintage postcards of military uniform and transport interest (inc. transport interest), plus eight related pictures and photographs, all framed and glazed (2 cartons)
* The Negatives. A very large archive of 35 mm black and white and colour photographic negatives of steam, diesel and electric locomotives, heavy goods vehicles and other commercial road transport including buses, coaches, emergency service vehicles, etc., a few vintage and veteran cars, canal boats, etc., c. 1961-2006, approx. 80,000 images contained in twenty-two modern plastic ring binders, together with Grahams index giving date, place and engine/registration number mrs Woolford, the current copyright holder, has agreed that full copyright will automatically transfer to the purchaser of this lot. * The Photographs. A very large photographic archive of steam, diesel and electric locomotives, heavy goods vehicles and other commercial road transport including buses, coaches, emergency service vehicles, etc., a few vintage and veteran cars, canal boats, etc., the photographs date from 1981 through to 2006 and comprise approximately 21,600 black and white images and approximately 24,000 colour images, all mounted on card, the colour images contained in approx. forty lever-arch files (15 cartons)
* Curtis (Alan H., 1897-1983). Wings. A Scrap-Book Portraying Incidents in the Life of a Pilot, c. 1914-1939, a fascinating set of four scrap albums compiled by Alan Curtis (started in 1932 and re-assembled in 1977), detailing his flying experiences from the beginning of the First World War to the early days of World War II, comprising numerous photos. of aircraft and pilots (both vintage and later), official documents, newspaper and magazine cuttings and other related paper souvenirs, including several signed menus, plus typescript reminiscences and manuscript notes by Curtis, incl. extracts from log books and diaries, etc., all carefully compiled in chronological order in four modern plastic ring binders, 4to Alan Harper Curtis, RNAS, RFC, RAF & S/Ldr, RAFVR. First flew at Hendon on 13th July 1914, with Edouard Baumann at the controls of a Wright biplane; joined the Royal Naval Air Service on 18th September 1915 and qualified for his pilots certificate on 7th November 1915 Enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps on 2nd March 1916 and gained his wings on 3rd August 1917 Served with No. 49 Squadron in France 19th October 1917 - 11th June 1918, carrying out bombing raids on French towns and engaging in numerous aerial scraps with the enemy (an extended handwritten account of an encounter that Curtis had on 7 June 1918 with von Richthofens Travelling Circus appears on p. 110 in volume 2). A Summary of Successful War Flights appears on pp. 145-6 in volume 2, including 2 Huns brought down out of control. 137 bombs dropped.
de Havilland Goblin. A rare original Handbook and Spare Parts list for this early jet engine, orig. leatherette covered boards, text, diags., and cut-away drawings after G. A. Frodsham - ex. property of The Vintage Aircraft Team based at Cranfield, together with other relevant documentation on Goblin Mk. 2 & 3 engines (a lot)
