Original vintage movie advertising poster of a double bill feature with the films "Blazing Saddles" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Blazing Saddles is a 1974 American satirical black comedy-western film directed by Mel Brooks. Starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder, the film was written by Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, Norman Steinberg and Alan Uger, and was based on Bergman's story and draft. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences, was nominated for three Academy Award. The film satirizes the racism obscured by myth-making Hollywood accounts of the American West, with the hero being a black sheriff in an all-white town. The film is full of deliberate anachronisms, from the Count Basie Orchestra playing "April in Paris" in the Wild West, to Slim Pickens referring to the Wide World of Sports, to the German army of World War II. In 2006, Blazing Saddles was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. The Blazing Saddles half of the poster is designed by John Alvin, and features a black cowboy holding two revolvers with a lady in black lingerie holding onto his leg. There is also a head of an American Indian in front of a star. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a 1975 British comedy film concerning the Arthurian legend, written and performed by the Monty Python comedy group of Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, and directed by Gilliam and Jones. It was conceived during the hiatus between the third and fourth series of their BBC television series Monty Python's Flying Circus. Monty Python and the Holy Grail grossed more than any other British film exhibited in the US in 1975. The Monty Python half of the poster is designed by Terry Gilliam, and features a hand emerging from a cloud holding the holy grail, in which contains castle towers, spires and flags on flagpoles. The slogan reads "Makes Ben Hur Look Like an Epic". The entire poster contains only yellow and sky blue, with the colours inverted for each movie. Condition: Excellent condition, minor fold marks. Original vintage music advertising poster for a concert by Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Avalon Ballroom in 1967. Supporting acts featured The Other Half and Melvin Q. The event was organised by Family Dog Productions. The Avalon Ballroom was a music venue in the Polk Gulch neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The space operated from 1966 to 1969, at the height of the counterculture movement. Quicksilver Messenger Service (sometimes credited as simply Quicksilver) is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco. The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and through their recordings, with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts. They were part of the new wave of album-oriented bands, achieving renown and popularity despite an almost complete lack of success with their singles (apart from "Fresh Air", which reached number 49 in 1970). Though not as commercially successful as contemporaries Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver was integral to the beginnings of their genre. With their jazz and classical influences and a strong folk background, the band attempted to create an individual, innovative sound. Music historian Colin Larkin wrote: "Of all the bands that came out of the San Francisco area during the late '60s, Quicksilver typified most the style, attitude and sound of that era." Member Dino Valenti drew heavily on musical influences he picked up during the folk revival of his formative musical years. The style he developed from these sources is evident in Quicksilver Messenger Service's swing rhythms and twanging guitar sounds. After many years, the band has attempted to reform despite the deaths of several members. In 2009, original members Gary Duncan and David Freiberg toured as the Quicksilver Messenger Service, using various backing musicians. Condition: Excellent condition. Year of printing: 1967, country of printing: USA, designer: Jack Hatfield, dimensions (cm): 50.5x35.5.

Original vintage music advertising poster published for the promotion of David Bowie’s concept album “Diamond Dogs” released in 1974. Depicting Bowie as Halloween Jack, leader of the Diamond Dogs gang, this curious, surrealistic, and controversial artwork also featured on the cover of the album. Painted by Belgian artist Guy Peellaert, the cover caused scandal for its overt representation the half man, half dog’s genitals, leading to a tamer version to be released publically. The album was a musical union of Bowie’s rock glam vision of a post-apocalyptic world with George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” in the wake of his so-called “retirement” from Bowie’s alter-ego Ziggy Stardust. WIth a sultry and confrontational gaze, buttressed by the painted figures’ stare behind him, the half Bowie creature sits in front of a sign inscribed with “The Strangest Living Curiosities” calling attention to the freakshow aesthetic glamorized and made popular by Bowie’s eccentric, explosive, and incomparable energy. Condition: Good condition, creasing, small tears, browning.. Country of printing: USA, designer: Guy Peellaert, size (cm): 44x83, year of printing: 1974.
