Accumulation in five plastic containers, with several schoolboy and vintage albums, a group of postal history from 1d red imperfs onwards incl. field post offices, some GB presentation packs (approx. £60 face), mostly lower value material, however one binder with extensive 19th century GB in mixed condition, including approx. 300 ½d bantams, 1840 penny blacks (2), one with four margins and red MX, vertical crease, also 1841 2d pale blue imperf 'lines' unused/part o.g. with three margins (cat. £7,500), and a probably unused 1885 1/- I.R. official SG.O7 (cat. £6,000), light stain and thin, requiring expertisation. Please inspect.
An early Ideal album (1910 edition) with many hundreds of mint and used stamps, especially German States, Canada 10d Cartier imperf (faults), Cape triangles, Ceylon halfpenny lilac mint, China with 3 candarins red dragon, 2cts 'red revenue' and other interesting overprints, followed by GB incl. 1d black and 1840 2d blue with variable margins, 6d brown 'specimen' (faults), 2/- blue, 1884 1/- green cds, through to revenues and 1d Mulready envelope used with circular Kimbolton arrival and indistinct Penny Post markings, also India from 1855 4a red and blue cut-to-shape, Italy incl. 1890 20cts on 50cts mauve mint (cat.£600), useful New Zealand and Australian States, United States incl. 1867 90cts Washington with grill used (cat. £2,250), etc. Mixed condition as usual for collections of this vintage. Collection of many thousands of mint and used stamps from classics onwards, predominantly pre-1950 Europe in 12 volumes, including five large Schaubek albums with Spain, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Italy with POs abroad, Islands and occupations, Greece, France, etc, with lots of decent mint sets. Other vintage albums include a well-filled Centurion (missing spine) incl. China with $2 hall of classics, a couple of Kewkiang, etc, and an oblong clasped Lincoln album. Please inspect thoroughly.
Accumulation in over twenty volumes and loose in a grocer's box and jute bag, lots of vintage schoolboy albums of varying standard, pre-war correspondence from Europe, Russia, Sierra Leone, etc, with postage dues, re-directed, much cinderella affixed, also seen group of five essays for Austria prisoner of war relief, good range of mint pre-decimal Great Britain, 21st century face value about £100 mainly in m/s and booklets, a real mixture, needs thorough inspection.
Multi-generation accumulation in three leather cases filling a large carton, with several vintage albums including Oppen's and two Lincolns, a two-volume collection with GB KGVI control strips and QEII traffic-light/plate blocks, Tasmania Chalons to 1/-, Siam with good range of 19th century incl. large numeral Siamese surcharges and 'atts' to 10a, 1899 64a mint, etc. Postal history from 19th century onwards fills one of the cases incl. early-1950s worldwide commercial correspondence, 1924 Everest expedition card (faults) with the label, as well as a couple of 'salved from the sea' covers of the Heian Maru (mailed Japan-USA-England, 1940?, one heavily damaged) which was refitted as a naval vessel and sunk in 1944. Also many hundreds of early to mid-20th century stamps on and off-paper in envelopes to delve into.
An interesting carton of country groups and collections on vintage album pages, noted Portugal and Colonies, Spanish civil war, Liberia, Egypt, Latin America, Asia in loose envelopes incl. A charming group of vintage Postman's kit, with wartime infantry-type helmet stencilled 'GPO', similarly stencilled 'CPO' canvas pouch, along with more civilian postie paraphernalia: twelve 'Post Office - YO' (York) numbered enamelled metal badges (6 different numbers), felt belt embroidered 'Post Office - Postman' in red, a wonderfully worn wooden postmark handstamp holder with three stamps for Boroughbridge, York in single ring and two formats of double ring, with the metal date slugs in another wooden box incorporating slug rack. Also a metal box for Inland Telegram Forms.
