WEISSMULLER JOHNNY: (1904-1984) American Actor, famous for his role as Tarzan in various movies. A rare vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph by Weissmuller, the image depicting the swimming champion in an indoor training pool, seated alongside two members of the Illinois Athletic club, Arne Borg and Ethel Lackie, all of them wearing their club swimsuits. Boldly signed in black ink (`Johnny Weissmuller´) across the image to a clear area. Overall age wear and creasing with upper edge slightly trimmed. About G £100-150Weissmuller won five Olympic gold medals for swimming and one bronze medal for water polo in the 1920´s. He was the first man to swim the 100 meter freestyle under one minute, won fifty-two U.S. national championships, set more than sixty world freestyle and backstroke records and was undefeated in official competition for the entirety of his competitive career. Arne Borg (1901-1987) Swedish Swimmer. Borg is a well-remembered swimmer for breaking 32 world records and winning five Olympic medals in the 1920s.

An excellent signed and inscribed sketch by Hergé, to a 9 x 12 hardback cover of his Adventures of Tintin vintage book `Tintin au Tibet´ (1958-59) (“Tintin in Tibet”), in French. Signed and inscribed in bold black ink to the verso of the front blank page, opposite the title page, `To Marie-Louise.. with friendly thoughts from Tintin, Milou and Hergé´, a good inscription by Hergé who adds beneath the date, 19th October 1976, in his hand. Alongside, Hergé has neatly penned a good sketch of Tintin and Milou. EX £1000-1500

Signed ('avec mille compliments Alex. Dumas') in fountain pen ink to a clear area beneath the image. Photographer's imprint to the lower mount and verso. Signed (´Romy Schneider´) with her name alone in black ink to a clear area, partially to the lower white border, of the image; Magda Schneider (1909-1996) German Actress, mother of Romy Schneider. An attractive photograph showing Magda Schneider alongside her daughter Romy. Signed in bold blue ink to the lower white border, and Harry Meyen (1924-1979) German Actor and film Director, husband of Romy Schneider. A good close-up head and shoulders pose photograph. Meyen committed suicide in 1979. Two years after, in 1981, his son with Romy Schneider, David, died at the very early age of 14 trying to climb a spiked fence. And a year later, in 1982, Romy Schneider died in unclear circumstances. VG, 3 £100-150

To the inside of the folding 8vo stiff white card, featuring a printed greeting saying “Anne and Gerard Philipe, send their best wishes to you” in French, Philipe has added to the inside left page a statement `The lamp is off, checkmate. Slowly I take the tokens in hand again. To perform the best first. I feel very friendly close to you, Serge,...´ Philipe adds also beneath the printed text to the inside right page his greetings to Serge and other members of his family. The document bears a card affixed to the front. Accompanied by a vintage unsigned postcard photograph of Philipe. Signed documents of Philipe are scarce following his death at the early age of 36.
