A vintage colour postcard showing the west front of Sandringham House, signed ('Edward') to the image by the young Prince of Wales and future King Edward VIII, with an additional sentiment in his hand, 'Christmas 1904, Many thanks for the nice book'. Addressed in another hand to the verso to Mrs. Colman at The Rectory, Barwick-in-Elmet, Leeds. Some slight corner and surface creasing, not affecting the text or signature, otherwise about VG

A good, early vintage signed Christmas greetings card by both the young Prince of Wales and Duke of York (and future Kings) individually, the stiff oblong 8vo card featuring an original colour painting to the centre, signed by an unidentified artist, depicting a sailing boat on a lake with various hills in the background. Signed ('David') by the Prince of Wales and signed ('Bertie') by the Duke of York, both in dark fountain pen inks to the lower border. One of the siblings has added 'Christmas 1904' in their hand to the upper border. Some very minor age wear at the corners, otherwise VG

CHURCHILL WINSTON S.: (1874-1965) British Prime Minister 1940-45, 1951-55. Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1953. A fine vintage signed 5 x 7.5 photograph by Churchill, the image depicting him in a classic half length pose. Photograph by Walter Stoneman of London and bearing his credit stamp to the verso. Signed ('W S Churchill') with his name alone in bold fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount. Accompanied by a printed 8vo sheet of 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, notepaper bearing the typed words 'With Mr. Churchill's Compliments. A Souvenir of 10, Downing Street 1940-45' and further dated 26th July 1945 and with the name Sergeant Green in ink in an unidentified hand at the foot. Also included are two colour photocopies of Sergeant Gordon J. Green's National Registration Identity Card issued on 14th August 1940 and indicating that Green was a member of the Metropolitan Police's Special Branch. EX Gordon J. Green (1908-1991) British Police officer who joined Special Branch in 1938. Green served as a Protection Officer to Churchill in 1945 and 1951-52 and accompanied the Prime Minister to the Potsdam Conference. The present photograph was given to Green on the day on which the Conservatives lost the General Election of 1945 and Churchill resigned as Prime Minister.
